While the region braces for its first unofficial snow panic of the season, the government is about to announce that 2015 was the warmest year on record worldwide - probably by a comfortable margin.
Officials at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies say they will release their annual reports on Wednesday.
December climate data has not yet been released, but the first 11 months of the year were so historically balmy that the declaration of 2015 as the world's warmest year - surpassing 2014 - with temperatures of at least 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the 20th Century average, is all but a certainty, weather watchers agree. And scientists at both agencies are expected to indict manmade greenhouse gases for the trend.

Of course it’s official. Each year being the warmest on record is already decided by NASA before any data are collected.
Oh Dear Lord— I mean that most reverently—
This past summer was so anemic I was expecting them to start with the “new ice age” crap.
Can you say BOVINE FECES?
My question to those global warming/climate change advocates is: What caused the last ice age and what caused the end of it? Neanderthal fires?
Actually, they are altering the current data point upwards, declaring they are adjusting them via scientific/statistical means.
Ah yes. Love the smell of dung fires outside the hut in the morning.
But I’ve always asked: What caused the last ice age?
So according to our 10 trillion dollar in debt government, Atlantic hurricanes hate warmth.
Warmest on record?
Bull. Crap.
Not in Boston - it sure as h*ll was NOT.
Thanks for the Joe Bastardi ping. I believe him.
Are you talking about some global event or last Saturday night when the umm bartender told me I was cut off and would be sleeping on the couch...
No, NOT that cold shoulder incident. :>)
LOL! Still revising previous years’ temperature data downward.
I was thinking about this global warming stuff at work this morning while looking out at the mini blizzard. I'm tired of shoveling snow. So at noon in the lunchroom I told the guys the global warming people had announced 2016 as being the warmest year on record.
Mark, the smartest man I know, launched into how they had been keeping records for like, you know, about 50 years, and they have found that every five years is a weather cycle. In the last coupla cycles the average temperature has risen. SO, he tells us, if this is the fifth year of the next cycle it is the warmest on record.
WHAT????
Rick is rolling his eyes and asked, "What caused the last ice age and what caused the end of it?"
It was the ATLANTEANS I told Rick. For thousands of years they had debated the question Universal Energy or charcoal briquettes? By Royal decree the briquette won out.
In the ensuing DECADES the pollution from all the barbecuing caused a global winter and the last ice age. So it was only Universal Energy for THOUSANDS of years.
When things started to ease up the briquette people decided to give it a try again. It caused such a fight between the two factions that they destroyed themselves in a huge fireball that heated the atmosphere so much it not only ended the last ice age but melted the icecap off from Antarctica! The lucky few who escaped in their Vimanas got a few good pics of that continent with their Smartphones before they landed and restarted CIVILIZATION.
Do you know how I know this, I asked Rick?
I WAS THERE! (I sure do miss those Auroch steaks.)
;-))
Big Briquette, (like Big Oil) will once gain plunge us into an unending scourge of human caused (global warming - global cooling...pick one) never seen before in human history.
It'll be Yuuugggge.
That's all, have a nice day.
Your point chills me to the bone is my warm reply.
