Is Levin about to go Beck?
opinion | 01-14-2016 | ShivaFan

I can just sense it. Yesterday, it almost happened, and everything is being couched in words, words that perhaps are felt to be needed to ready others for the "whys" and "what fors", words that indicate it is going to happen. Who am I to judge? Levin was one of those who lead the charge against the gang of eight. For that, I will always love him. Even if he goes Beck.

Decades ago, I recall turning on the little Japanese made transistor radio and going through the AM dial and listening in on "Doctor" Steuart McBirnie and his "Voice of Americanism" radio show. This would be the late 1960's and into the 1970's, I cannot pin point the exact time frames but early 70s should be correct. Yes, that would be the times. Most of you have no idea who I am talking about.

A great anti-communist. He was heard on hundreds of radio stations. He died I think in the 1990's. The human voice is very powerful. You may not know him, but he was a giant. Like Levin is today. Of course, Levin has a much farther reach than the "Doctor" did back then. McBirnie was the trail blazer, however, for what was to come. "Americanism" was both a sort of a whole milk word, it might have even been "confusing", yet it was appropriate. The "Voice of Americanism" from Glendale, California. More would come, especially with the battles that Ronald Reagan had to undertake and the establishment opposition, some of the times were epic. AM Radio played no small part. Victories were to come. Many more after McBirnie were to come. You know, California is called the "Left Coast" for no reason, but from the Left Coast the greatest came, including McBirnie, and then came Rush out of Sacramento, California.

Of course, Reagan was attacked as being a former Democrat. An "entertainer". "Rich". On and on, a lot of it sounded like the same attacks on Trump. Actually, the attacks were very similar to the attacks on Trump. That he wasn't a "conservative" then, will he change again and Reagan become a Democrat? And the Republican establishment was vicious on Reagan, who risked so much of his personal wealth and ability to even make a living at all. Because they definitely went after that, his ability to even make a living. The same huge risks that Trump is facing, every angle being used. Reagan was extremely brave. I think Trump is extremely brave. Both called "bombastic". Literally, how many times did I have to be told, "Can we trust Reagan with his finger on the trigger?" (of the bomb)... Reagan was the "nut" who was going to blow up the world. On and on.

I suppose Levin would say, "see! They were attacking 'from the left'!"... Well, actually, Reagan was also attacked from the right.

In the many "campaigns", Reagan did have to go after his competitors. What the hell did they expect him to do? Politics is sort of like business. Or war, even. But really, some of the things Reagan did, said, going after the competitors, wasn’t really any big deal, not really mean things. Just basic stuff.

So I recall, Rush was famous – for those funny, funny off takes, like political commercials, the Ted Kennedy thing and the car spinning "round and round" – people would literally record and replay these funny "commercials" on little tape recorders and, I swear to God, would replay them at work.

Rush expanded from Sacramento and became an icon. I love him. Who cannot? I really loved it, and still do, and I loved the mean stuff and the funny stuff.

But there was another guy, epic. Also called "Doctor". Doctor Savage. The first voice was heard on the "enemy station", AM radio KGO, then he move over to KSFO, both San Francisco. Levin later started a odd attack on Michael Savage. Honestly, I think Levin was jealous. Because Savage literally became a giant – both Jews had their moments and still do, but I am going to say Savage was more of a giant than Levin, God bless Mark and all. It is strange how things go, how these two started fighting. But honestly, I blame Levin more for it. I can tell you, Michael Savage is more, was more, than just a player in this entire rise of the Right, thank God for Savage. I am telling you, as he started his rise, people would be in cars, with the AM radio on, windows rolled down purposely so others would hear at every red light stop, they would be parked and playing Savage loud, "Adult content" yadda, yadda. The intensity there. Gripping. He would ripe the left into little mince meat, and entertain at the same moment, and be the General Patton the next, and the guy you want over to dinner a moment later.

I am going to reach a bit, but I don't think I am wrong, Levin would not have even existed if not for Savage. Also, Levin, yes, he is a Giant of a man. But not as Giant as Savage in the bigger picture of the rise of the Right. Levin is today leading the charge for the "Convention of States" – fantastic. Some States are even listening, and while it is a mix of "Constitutional Convention" and "Convention of the States" and such, and sort of one thing confusing another, if something does happen we all know who started it, Mark Levin. I love him.

I remember first hearing Glen Beck on 560 KSFO. Actually, he was about being funny. Seriously. I mean, he did a skit once, going the voice of an illegal alien. It was both epic, funny, classic, and memorial. He rose. Then rose higher still. We all knew he was a former drunk, in fact, being a former drunk probably contributed to his skill sets on the microphone, I hate to sound like someone promoting drinking, and Beck had gotten off the bottle long before his stardom. But later, he started getting nutty. Today, how can I NOT still love him? Of course. But, maybe I am wrong, but I think he thinks he is some God Prophet. To bring the message of the great apocalypse if we don't heed his angelic message of "love".

Beck went off on Trump. Now I sense, Levin is going to be next. Fine. But I am still going to support Trump. Sorry, Levin. I think also, Levin is about to make a huge mistake. I could be wrong. He has the absolute good intentions. He has been under huge stress for a long time, so many have. The stress is really bad. The times that weary men's souls. My God, the battles are epic. I am stressed, too. I bet a lot of folks are. But I will not change my vote because of Levin. And I think he is about to go Beck. Anyway, we are all suppose to listen to the debate tonight, to "detect" if "someone" (wonder who) uses "leftwing" or "attacks from the left". Levin is talking about Trump. We need to listen, replay it, each word. Is Trump actually working for Hillary, perhaps? He has changed his views from the past, will be become Hillary again? Pins and needles. Ok. I will listen carefully. But I think, Levin is under stress. Maybe I am wrong. But to me, he isn’t Gods gift, sorry. Sure hope he is there for all of this as the struggles continue. He is a giant Giant. Keep up the good work, Levin. I am not going to "attack from the left" and dump Trump. Sorry. I guess I am just a nut for the "cult of personality". Or something. But personality, like giants of the AM dial, is important, too... There are a lot of nutty things going on. A lot of stress. I am going to have "nerves of steel", however. I am not going to turn on Trump. No way, because he is the one who first got the issue of illegal aliens front and foremost. He is, to me, one hell of a brave guy. And yes, like Reagan. He might be from New York and not California, but he is ok by me. Ok Levin. I will listen to the debate. But my framework is a bit different. Ok, the "attack from the left" thing. But I am not going to go nuts about it.

Birtherism is all over the place and the attacks on Cruz are identical to those you see on the left, even to the point of calling him the “Christian Taliban”.

the problem is that what gives you the idea that Trump is not just another crappy candidate? What has he done that shows he’s a conservative?

As B4ID asked yesterday:
So where are Trump’s SuperPACs promoting conservative, or even Republican, causes? Where are his Americans first policies within his companies? Where’s his assertion that all of his companies will henceforth use e-verify? Why did he feel it necessary to use foreign labor in his hotels and casinos? Where’s his “Trump Foundation for Veterans”?

The trumpeters are being gamed, FRiend.

Hannity has always lacked depth. I think he’s hung around so long because people just like him. I really like Levin, he’s the only one who’s has angry as I am about the GOP and government in general, but my dashboard can only take so much pounding before I have to switch to classical music.

Absolutely right. If they want to vote for a lefty that is one thing but to trust anything DT says is mind blowing.

Unlike Savage, Beck, or even Rush, Mark Levin actually does more than just run his mouth off for three hours a day on the radio.

He runs the Landmark Legal Foundation and actually files lawsuits, takes depositions, and reveals the corruption.

Levin, Rush, Hannity—and lots and lots of other “conservative” commentators folded when it came to the crudely-forged “birth certificate”—and long before that.

That’s good analysis. I remember, maybe it was fall, Rush said something like “It reminds me of Perot; people hear Trump say he’s going to do things he never said he would do. Trump is so ambiguous that he’s blank slate.” That’s when I knew Rush would turn on Trump when it came down to him vs a real conservative.

Mark Levin is too tied up with Freedom Works, Amer. for prosperity, who have ALWAYS supported amnesty and bad trade like TPP. They are nothing but K St lobbyists. Tea Party patriots, one of LEvin’s favorites, is NOT grass roots and Jenny Beth Martin is knocking down almost $100,000 a year...TPP was formed by Freedom works!

http://www.alternet.org/story/150902/5_professional_tea_partiers%3A_who%27s_sucking_the_most_money_from_the_movement

Take a look at Amer. for Prosperity..NOTHING about fighting bad/illegal immigration or cheap foreign labor.

... Hey Romneybot! You have ZERO authority to dictate who is and isn’t a conservative. Some people around here remember exactly what a joke you were in 2007 and still are right now.
I was told by freepmail when DT lost me you and yours would look back at my old posts to find trash to use on me. I was also told you were nasty, childish, didn’t care about facts and wouldn’t let up on me. Your group has shut up a lot of folks here but you will not shut me up. trumpees support a progressive who does not know even basic civics. Someone has to stand up for traditional values like discussion without the name calling as when napscoordinator called my sister the C-word, and when DT’s lies are perpetuated as truth, Rush is called GOPe, Levin is besmirched, DT takes his campaign to vulgar level, is a professional whiny baby with the manners of an out of control toddler, and on and on.
So I guess you were really happy with McCain? I guess you saw I ended up voting for him for Sarah.
Enjoy your day.

“No one knows where Trump is on many issues”

Many issues? Like what?

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions

BTW...remember NOT to purchase Trump gear anywhere but his official website. The NRCC and NRSC (formerly run by Cruz) is selling bogus Trump gear to give the $$ to their candidates....Cruz and Rubio.
They ask who you support for prez on FB, etc. Then get your email to push their scam.

They have done this for months and has cost the Trump campaign likely millions.

Because Trump is smart. He’s very smart. People love how smart he is. He always hires smart people. You would be amazed how smart the people he hires are - fabulous people. People love the fabulous people he hires. He always, and this is the thing yo have to understand about him, he always gets what he wants.

Yes, Cruz does not grab a broad spectrum of supporters as does Trump. Maybe the message is that Conservatism in a corporatist cloak is not appealing to the unemployed under- employed masses.

Thanks for the tip. I need to research and buy a wifi radio. My radio listening is either in my truck or in my basement bunker (just a workshop but bunker sounds cooler). Between the fluorescent lights, mountain and FCC transmitting regs. things go to hell soon after dark. The computer is 2 floors up on the upper observation deck (just a loft but...you know)not sure how good wifi will be in the basement.

“...wouldn’t let up on me.”

Sounds just like Trump.

“I said, ‘No one has ever spoken to me in that way. See what I do to you,’” Mr. Trump recalls.

Mr. Trump says, “I would see her at functions at various ballrooms throughout the city and I would say such things that some people were shocked.”

Ms. Goldstein died last year in a bicycle accident.

“I didn’t send flowers,” Mr. Trump says.
