I have always been taught that if you can't say something nice then keep your mouth shut.
After the thread on Sunday from a supporter of one candidate that went way over 200+ posts, I started to feel hatred toward the candidate of the original poster due to how nasty she was toward other candidates.
Yes I want my candidate to win, but I don't want to turn others against my candidate and I know there are posters on this forum that are accomplishing that very feat.
Can we tone it down a bit! After all we are FREEPERS not the hate mongering DNC.

I totally agree. I have not settled on a candidate and the crap I see from Freepers towards other Freepers based on their support for whichever candidate does nothing to convince me to support them. It’s just gross.
A call for civil discourse is a chatroom! Well intended, but Pollyanna. On a scale of 1-10 on the “FR vitriolometer”, the current level is approximately 3.4.
I have pointed this out as well. If you don’t agree 100% with someone’s choice, you will be immediately called a democrat, communist, etc.
I never hesitate to point out their obnoxious comment to them though. Hence the nickname “Snark”.
I think we should start point out on threads whenever someone first tries to turn it into a mosh-pit fight. What it does is divert from serious discussion of the issues at hand. I have to wonder why any candidate or their supporters would want to avoid discussion, and descend into nastiness.
One of the nastiest has been zotted, unfortunately only temporarily.
I expect there will be more zots to come.
The race between Cruz and Trump is epic. Either one is just a sound bite away from the Presidency or disaster. God bless them both is all I can say.

Bashing seems to be in the eye of the beholder.
Merely citing facts about a particular candidate (even using the candidate’s own words) is often interpreted as bashing.
Stating a candidate’s position on an issue (even using the candidates own words) is often interpreted as bashing.
Posting reports or editorials flattering OR unflattering to a particular candidate is often interpreted as bashing.
JimRob has a posting guideline - NO Personal Attacks. At the least, that guideline should be honored.
I read a comment from a poster yesterday calling for the banning of everyone supporting a candidate he didn’t support.....and he was serious.
You see that crap on a lot of issues, not just presidential politics. Waco, Apple, Abortion. Lot’s of single issue nut jobs.
Over the years, I have seen tactics like this come and go.

Anyway, I can’t change other people’s behavior.
All we can do to really help is BE THE EXAMPLE.
The GOPe has declared war on True Conservatism. The GOPe has foisted loser presidential candidates (McCain, Romney) on us, while backstabbing and sandbagging candidates that dare to defeat GOPe’ers in the primaries (Joe Miller, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, and Todd Akin). Meanwhile, the GOPe supports RINOs and losers such as Scott Brown and Mark Kirk.
The GOPe refused to stop amnesty and Obamacare, leaving Ted Cruz to lead the fight virtually alone. The GOPe has refused to file Articles of Impeachment against Obama, despite his violations of the Constitution.
The GOPe has launched the most vicious and vile attacks against Trump and Ted Cruz, all so they can prop up their toady of the week (currently Rubio).
The GOPe would rather Hillary be president rather than a True Conservative.
If you are not a big corporate campaign contributor, a K Street lobbyist, or a member of the Country Club set, the GOPe does not care about you.
Too many people mistakenly believe the top priority for 2016 is for the Republicans to win the White House. The most important priority for 2016 should be the complete and utter destruction of the corrupt, rotten-to-the-core GOPe.
If this is too much for the delicate sensitivities of the GOPe, too bad.
Yes, silly me, wanting to keep Hillary or Sanders out of the White House and return some sense of sanity to governance.

No. JimRob is not a Trumpbot. Trumpbots are people who think Cruz can’t win, Cruz is for amnesty, Cruz is ineligible to be president, that Cruz voted for TPP and is responsible for Corker, and think large crowds at rallies = victory in a primary. Most of all, think Trump is sincere in his conversion. I could go on.

I’ve had that threat passed to me as well once or twice. We are supposed to be “free” yet if we have a differing opinion... Not so much.
and the religion forum... yep! lots of Freeper inhumanity to Freeper, to coin a phrase. you persuade no one to the validity of your viewpoint by being nasty to them. so other than just spewing venom, what is accomplished?
