GREENVILLE â It's like a rodeo, Maine-style.
A three-man field crew flies in a helicopter above the woods near Moosehead Lake, the pilot getting as close to the treetops as he can. Once a moose is spotted, the crew's "muggers" leap from the helicopter and wrestle the animal to the ground. They belt the moose's legs, take blood and fecal samples and place a radio collar on it.

Oh, here we go...
So now we’ll finally understand why mooses bite sisters?
Wonder what station the Moose listen to ?
Careful of the radio collar weirdos.
They coulda just called my sister.
Moose Muggers not allowed to recruit sisters.
Moose mugging sounds like a high risk job....very high risk. I sure wouldnt want to do it!
I really want to see the video of two guys wrestling a moose down. I call BS unless there is massive amount of ketamine used. Moose injure more people in Alaska than bears do.

They won’t detect much movement at night, because the animals will be moosely dreaming.
Oh this is gonna be good.
Hoo-wuh!
Bell. A big bell.
Yep, and you know the bears must get a kick out of that spectacle. Especially the fecal sample part.
They use a net launched from a special gun, so they do not simple “wrestle” the moose down.
“The IF&W biologists work with pilots from the Maine Forest Service to locate cow moose in Northern Maine and once spotted, the âmuggersâ come in on helicopters and use cartridge-launched nets to isolate the moose.”
