EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Palin Fires Back at Dakota Meyer Paternity Drama
Entertainment Tonight ^ | January 5, 2015 | Zach Seemayer

Two weeks after Bristol Palin gave birth to daughter Sailor Grace, her ex-fiancé, Dakota Meyer, is claiming to be the biological father and seeking joint custody.

Bristol's mother, former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, spoke to ET exclusively about Meyer's claims.

"For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol's pregnancy or the baby," Palin told ET.

"Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace," she added, claiming that Meyer is attempting to "save face."

Meyer filed legal documents alleging that he's Sailor Grace's father, and is seeking joint custody of the newborn girl, as well as child support, TMZ reports.

Bristol needs to keep an aspirin in her purse.

Meyer filed legal documents alleging that he’s Sailor Grace’s father, and is seeking joint custody of the newborn girl, as well as child support, TMZ reports.
Am I reading this right - he wants joint custody AND child support?

Good for Dakota Meyer! He’s doing what a loving father should do. He’s asking to be an equal parent to his child.

Isn’t that we want?

And he’s looking out for the financial interests of his daughter.

Isn’t that what a responsible father should do? Or a responsible mother?

Fortunately, if Bristol and Dakota are the loving parents we all hope they should be, they should both be eager to financially support their daughter and they can ensure that by having a judge include an equitable child support schedule (whether Bristol pays Dakota or Dakota pays Bristol) in the official child custody documents.

Dakota is being responsible by making any agreement legally binding. Why would Sarah find fault in that? It’s the responsible adult thing to do.

“The POS is requesting “child support”. He just wants to get paid.”

That was my thought, too. He’s afraid she is going to ding him for child support, so he’s getting his licks in first. She was wise to dump him, and STUPID to get preggers by him.

FYI, here is the Medal of Honor citation for this “POS,” as you call him:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Marine Embedded Training Team 2-8, Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, on 8 September 2009. Corporal Meyer maintained security at a patrol rally point while other members of his team moved on foot with two platoons of Afghan National Army and Border Police into the village of Ganjgal for a pre-dawn meeting with village elders.

Moving into the village, the patrol was ambushed by more than 50 enemy fighters firing rocket propelled grenades, mortars, and machine guns from houses and fortified positions on the slopes above. Hearing over the radio that four U.S. team members were cut off, Corporal Meyer seized the initiative. With a fellow Marine driving, Corporal Meyer took the exposed gunner’s position in a gun-truck as they drove down the steeply terraced terrain in a daring attempt to disrupt the enemy attack and locate the trapped U.S. team.

Disregarding intense enemy fire now concentrated on their lone vehicle, Corporal Meyer killed a number of enemy fighters with the mounted machine guns and his rifle, some at near point blank range, as he and his driver made three solo trips into the ambush area. During the first two trips, he and his driver evacuated two dozen Afghan soldiers, many of whom were wounded. When one machine gun became inoperable, he directed a return to the rally point to switch to another gun-truck for a third trip into the ambush area where his accurate fire directly supported the remaining U.S. personnel and Afghan soldiers fighting their way out of the ambush.

Despite a shrapnel wound to his arm, Corporal Meyer made two more trips into the ambush area in a third gun-truck accompanied by four other Afghan vehicles to recover more wounded Afghan soldiers and search for the missing U.S. team members. Still under heavy enemy fire, he dismounted the vehicle on the fifth trip and moved on foot to locate and recover the bodies of his team members.

Corporal Meyer’s daring initiative and bold fighting spirit throughout the 6-hour battle significantly disrupted the enemy’s attack and inspired the members of the combined force to fight on. His unwavering courage and steadfast devotion to his U.S. and Afghan comrades in the face of almost certain death reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

I have seen the other posters commenting on your use of the term “POS”. Where do you get off calling him that? I don't see where you have gone out and spilled any blood for this country,.. as far as I can see the only thing you are capable of spilling is your own venom and bile. The matter is being handled by his attorney who is ensuring that the rights of the child are protected, up to and including ensuring that there is a proper distribution of child support between the parents. To impugn that he is a gold-digger is reprehensible.

The Palin’s are just like every other family,...

Not at all. The majority of families I know do not have these kinds of problems and certainly not the attention seeking and the drama.

The POS is requesting “child support”. He just wants to get paid.

I’m a second wife and step mother and your comment reminds me of when we were young, fighting for custody of my husband’s 4 year old daughter. The legal bills and the hurtful games with the ex were not fun or funny. At some point my husband bet that if we just paid her, every month, she’d go away! It worked perfectly! She never wanted her daughter, only money, so we paid her for 15 years. And she basically never saw “our daughter” again! It was a gamble we took that was worth everything we paid and more!

“He got laid and now he was to be paid.”

Maybe he started dating her with that in mind.

Funny, I don’t see the “POS” using his celebrity to smear the mother of his daughter publicly. He made a court filing and then Sarah Kardashian chose to respond to that TMZ style. Sad. Really, really sad. I expect better from the Palin family.

And it must be absolutely detrimental to the children, even if they were stand up guys.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Too many children with no father. I have one neighbor who has 2 kids with 2 daddys but none of them live there. She has lived with 5 different men in the last 6 years and the kids call each one daddy. Talk about child abuse. You would think Bristol would be thrilled that he would want to take part in his daughter’s life. Details can be ironed out in court or mediation. As far as him not being there for the pregnancy...hey they split up a week before the wedding. We don’t know how emotional that was for either of them. Now is the time for Bristol and Dakota to put their differences aside and concentrate on what’s best for their daughter. Gov. Palin didn’t have to add to the circus by putting her two cents in, she could have responded with “it’s Bristol’s personal family matter, and as such I will not comment on it”. That would have been the high road.
