Steely Dan's Donald Fagen was arrested Monday evening after allegedly assaulting his wife inside their NYC home.

According to the criminal complaint 67-year-old Fagen pushed his wife, Libby Titus, into a marble window frame in their Upper East Side pad. Cops say she suffered bruising and swelling to her right arm.

Fagen was arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and cited for harassment. He's also been ordered to stay away from Titus, who told the NY Post she's divorcing Fagen.

The Rock Hall of Famer was released without bail.

Stepped on a Poptart

It's actually "pop top" (aka the top on a bottle of soda/soft drink).

I’ll assume that is humor and not your understanding of the lyric.

If I'm not mistaken Libby Titus, his wife, is a very good songwriter from yesteryear.

One of my favorites... Titus and Eric Kaz wrote "Love Has No Pride" which was done by Bonnie Raitt.

He did make a small but significant contribution to “spaceman music”, with the song True Companion, part of the soundtrack to the movie Heavy Metal. Mostly instrumental.

It is a small genre, mostly of oddities like Benson, Arizona, by John Carpenter.

"She said oh no, Guadalajara won't do, and I'm never going back to my old school...."

Never been to Guadalajara but I know the Upper East Side fairly well....big difference between the two I'll bet.

“Silly wind instruments” have been an integral part of Rock ‘n Roll since the very beginning. Same for Jazz. I like the blend of Jazz and Rock that Steely Dan brought to the 1970’s.

And a mink-lined bathroom sink?

I’d settle for a mai tai with a little umbrella in it.

Most of the things a rock and roll guitar player does on stage to make it a “show” come from Vaudevillian sax players. Rock and roll wouldn’t be rock and roll without those silly wind instruments.

Never heard that term. Got an example, album, song?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacht_Rock

The term was originated by this online video series of the same name that generally mocked the sound. Pretty funny stuff. It covers a variety of mind 70s-80's "soft rock", usually stuff that is considered "sophisticated" by some, typically enjoyed while drinking white wine and perhaps chilling out on a sailboat.

Steely Dan are one example. The Eagles made a lot of that crap too -- think "Sunset Grill" or "New Kid in Town". Then there's Toto, Michael McDonald...you get the drift.

There was always something I absolutely hated about that sound, and couldn't figure out what it all had in common. Then I heard that term...and it all fell into place. Of course, musical appreciation is admittedly subjective, so just because I think it sucks doesn't mean I'm right.

Although it really does, and I am. ;)
