A funny thing happens when you spend the better part of a year reading and watching stories by people other than white, Western men â you start to notice who is in charge.
Last April, my frustration with the homogeneity of easily accessible art made me swear off reading or watching anything by white men until 2016. Instead, I chose to spend the year immersing myself in stories by anyone but white, Western directors and authors (you can read the rules I had to follow here and see the list of books I read here).

Since she lives in NYC there’s a good chance she might get mugged by reality one day. I have nothing but contempt for self loathing liberals.
A nose job and a lobotomy and this special snowflake would be not guilty.
She looks remarkably like the actress in that film short making fun of political correctness in the college classroom.
Everyone’s grades were averaged out, then “privilege points” added to their score.

I looked real hard, but Ayn Rand was nowhere to be found. I wonder what her take on Dagny Taggart would be? She could have added Alexandre Dumas (Count of Monte Cristo) to her list, too.
I have a simple rule of thumb for my children: whatever they like reading, I keep buying more, unless it's objectionable, of course. My oldest son liked R.L. Stine (Goosebumps), while my youngest son likes the Rush Revere books.
Outside of school, I read nothing but sports books until I was 16. My parents didn't care...they saw me reading, and that was good enough for them.
Literature should be the stuff that resonates with the reader, you should read it because you want to read it. She’s trying to be artsy and sensitive, but I read what she’s saying and it’s like being a kid forced to eat badly cooked Brussels sprouts.
I don’t really get how the publishing industry gatekeepers are somehow different for white vs non-white women. Any way you look at it, it’s a tremendously competitive business with a tradition of starving some of the best and brightest.
“Jeva, you ignorant slut...”
I bought My Grandfather’s Son from a library book sale. I was actually insulted because they had it listed in the African American Section. Like a white guy wouldn’t want to read a book written by a Supreme Court Justice.
Another wind-up drone indoctrinated with critical race theory spouts her drivel.
You forgot Frederick Douglas.
She will say that she deserved the mugging due to her white privilege.
Jeva: Urban slang for a sexy female. Little Sophia is a real jeva
Hmm... if she is a “feminist’ then she outta change her name to Jane.
Hello,
While the general concept is humorous, it probably fails to live up to FR’s request to refrain from posts that are “otherwise inappropriate for a conservative family audience” on a variety of points, not least one of the items actually depicted.
Not trying to be posting police here, perhaps you did not notice all the little details that make me bring this up.
Thank you,
That was pretty good. I plan on watching some more of the videos by that guy.
I have never cared whether an author was male or female. I knew "Harry Potter" was by a woman, before I started reading it, and it never occurred to me that a sensible person would care. I knew "Color Purple" was by a black woman before I started reading it, and it never occurred to me that a sensible person would care. Once I discovered melanin concentrations were the only thing she cared about, I stopped reading.
“happy american couple” contains the part of the phrase “african-american”. I can see how the search software “completes” the phrase in its algorithm, although I do not agree with it.
I work in the writing of software requirements for a living, and see bull stuff like this a LOT.
Funny thing is that googling happy South American couples actually brings up South Americans. If it is a boolean-thing, it should bring up a mixture instead of only African-Americans.
And:
Why does American equal only African-Americans and not Native Americans, South Americans, North Americans, Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans, etc.? Very curious response for a search engine.
It goes beyond an algorithm and completing phrases.
At the end, you know what’s in the box...
I stated that I can see the requirements that drove the software to do this, not that I agreed.
The requirements could have been written poorly, or (perhaps more likely) written to enforce the writer’s prejudices.
And we all agree that the algorithm is stupid.
