Same here. I guess the old-style model glue burned this stuff into my memory. I had the "Big T" kit from Revell, too - that thing seemed enormous next to the usual 1/12 scale stuff.

Yes it is, you can tell by the tear drop headlights.
The fellow I mentioned using one for work got it to track on rail road tracks without any special wheels. That’s why it’s so easy to remember. He worked in another town, and the shortest distance was by rail road. So he’d get on the tracks at a crossing, and just go.
There was only one train per day, so the timing was easy.
Just one of those things I’ll never forget.
I ran into another one last summer in the Black Hills of SD. It was in a private rural junk yard, appeared to be all there and restorable.
I might go back this summer and try to buy it. An old fellow in his 80’s owns it, along with other goodies.
I prefer Fords over Chevys. Everyone and their pet kitten has a 56 or 57 Chevy, I think 57 & 59 Fords are prettier, definitely rarer, and better toys. Before I’m sent to my happy junkyard I’d like to get one.

200 hours in 2016 are mapped out for Bel Air upgrades. It never goes easily like in the car shows.
Have you been taking photos as you go? If not, it’s not too late to start, given that you still apparently have a long way to go.
That's when I first brought it home. I got rid of the front end rake (they crushed the front coils which made it bottom out). The far side tail and bumper were badly crushed and I fixed both of those. I've done the radiator, carb, alternator, water pump, brakes, idler arm, inner outer tie rods, fuel pump, front hubs, passenger fender, various dents, some steering column work, roller rockers, rocker covers, front shocks, taking out the floor shifter to column, driver window, driver side rear window (it had a bullet hole). I've bought ball joints and control arm bushings, some old school Centerline rims.
People actually tell me it is beautiful, though it isn't visually that much better than when first bought, though certainly much better mechanically.
What really gets me is when some knucklehead will say "have you ever thought of fixing it up?" Like Duh.
Will do rear leaf springs, 700R4 transmission, Mallory distributor, maybe disk brakes, paint job and the interior. So I'm only about half way done, if that.
That's my Camaro under the tarp in the driveway.
Now if we can just convince more of the custom builders that it’s okay to use something besides a small block chebbie and an automatic.

wow, that’s the $100k version. But if you think of these as perpetual investments rather than throw aways, then that’s my goal. Might take ten years though.

I remember really being upset when Hot Rod magazine raised the price per issue to a quarter(!). I didn’t realize how good I had it back then ;- )
