My brother in law bought me this bottle of Grays Peak Small Batch vodka for Christmas. Dang nice looking bottle. I haven't opened it yet. But I'm wondering who here has a preference for vodka and if you really can tell the difference between one American Vodka and another?
This one is going to end up in white russians anyway. The Dude would doubtless approve.
Let me know if you ever want an opinion on rum.

This site is pretty fair and accurate....... Merry Friday !
If you don’t like straight liquor, keep it for re-gifting to someone who does. Cheap vodka for White Russians. Who can tell the difference?
We happened on Flaviar - a purveyor of spendy alcohol - & have tried a few. I found a gin (Reisetbauer Blue Gin) that makes Sapphire Bombay seem poor in comparison. And I loved the SB when I tried it, compared to cheaper brands.
Of course, you could just keep it, buy others to compare with & educate your palette. ;-)
Vodka and tonic is nice, too, though I prefer gin. Vodka gives me a ‘bitchy effect’ so I usually stay away.
Almost all vodka is made from grain nowadays. Vodka made from potatoes is a bit smoother to my taste. Really though, vodka is supposed to have no taste. So I don’t taste a great deal of difference between various grain vodkas, as compared to the much wider variety of whiskeys, brandies, etc. I can’t see the point of buying expensive vodka.
Sounds delicious!
That’s horrible vodka.
Send it to me and I’ll ensure it’s disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
You can thank me later.
;)
No! Martinis... :)
Stoli is a good vodka. My favorite is Absolut (not flavored as well). I feel some higher end vodka's are a waste of money. If I'm in a pinch, Sky is good for the money. Lots and lots of vodka's are rather poor in taste despite being cheap.
Wow! A topic I feel qualified to comment on at FR!
mix the cheap stuff....drink this on the rocks.....maybe in a straight up martini....
Vodka makes one optimistic....
you might try Sugar Buddies
in a shaker add a jigger of the vodka, three teaspoons of sugar muddled in half and half. Add 2 jiggers of creme de cacao and a half jigger of dram boui. add crushed ice and then shake till the towell sticks to the shaker
you can’t taste the vodka, so it doesn’t matter
Trader Joe’s has a great potato vodka from Poland. I’m sure you have some good vodka but after 2 shots it really doesn’t matter.
Vodka? Yes, please!
Lol! Seriously, make yourself a nice martini and chillax. Yes, that’s a word. I’ve always been a cosmo fan, even before Sex and the City made them “cool.” The trick is fresh ingredients and not some high fructose corn syrup “mix” that’s artificially flavored and dyed pink.
There IS a difference for "taste" in vodkas.
The very best are as smooth as silk.
Just like a single malt scotch.
Gotta try really good ones.
Compare and contrast with crappy brands.
Then you'll understand.
Potato vodka is the only stuff worth drinking! Grain vodka sucks!
Wow, I'm your opposite in Bizarro world. Absolutely love Absolut. Perhaps the difference is in the smell? I can't smell at all (or as I like to say, “I smell bad”), but my taste is enhanced. Get that a lot in beers. Spices are another. Last me for years. Their odor is lost, but the taste remains.
