Connor Cummings, of Rockaway, N.J., and an 18-year-old pal managed to get onto an upper floor of the landmark hotel overlooking Central Park with several pieces of camera equipment Wednesday night, despite not being guests there, police said.
They then attempted to climb scaffolding in an interior shaft leading to the roof of the 52 story luxury E. 57th St. hotel, police sources said. Cummings and his friend were nearing the roof when Cummings slipped and fell nine stories, crashing onto a 43rd floor landing, police said. He died at the scene.

E. 57th street. There are some massive skyscrapers being built in that stretch including two that will be higher than what is there presently. The foundations for those two have just been built and they will be going up soon. I think one of them will only be one foot shorter than the new WTC tower.
“DUH” syndrome in effect with that kid.
bet he won’t try THAT again.
” . . . I don’t know, but his face sure rings a bell.”
The selfie he was going for would have made him a very minor star for half a day on the Internet. Poor dumb kid, at least he didn’t hurt anybody else. RIP.
I remember staying down the street at the Marriott Marquis in the heart of Times Square. It had a 40 story interior atrium with a bar on the open lounge floor at its base. As I recall, a 40 something decided to commit suicide by jumping from one of the higher floor interior balconies and landed on top of the bar during happy hour, much to the shock of the patrons sitting there.
na hu..........global warming crap will stay afloat forever, see? For that matter any liberal lie is not subject to gravity, that is their constitutional right./s
Hey Chad, hold muh cabernet and watch this.
instead he chose to go into Manhattan and die in an interior air shaft. Wonder if he and his pal had visions of a Mission Impossible type burglary of the rich man's hotel dancing in their tiny minds.
Well, they can scrape and test what’s left of his mind from the floor now.
Well he made winter, spring and summer ...
Late entry in the 2015 Darwin Award Sweepstakes.
You are a “daredevil” if you are successful. You are a foolish splatter mark if you are not.
If you fall 9 stories, is the last thing you hear the PooP or the SPLAT?
Wait, so there won’t be a season 2 of Daredevil on Netflix???
Just saw a news story of hikers rescued from the Palisades in NY (Nyack?); I don’t think they were rock climbing, but they were ticketed for leaving the marked trails. I’ve started seeing signs posted about this in NY parks; while I have no problem with charging these knuckleheads for their rescue, it is very disturbing that huge swaths of these parks will be “off limits” if one has to remain on marked trails.
The thing is that their objective is to close all the trails entirely to the unenlightened masses that refuse to worship Gaia or are too poor to set aside vast acreage for environmental trusts.
Always enjoyed my rare small boat rides to see the Palisades, kinda of like approaching Kong Island if there was a mist.
