Emergency responders were at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, California, on Friday after a man fell over, local media reported.
Bill Bender with San Diego Lifeguards at Sunset Cliffs told NBC San Diego: 'Witnesses stated seeing someone distracted by an electronic device and he just fell over the edge.
'(He) wasn't watching where he was walking, he was looking down at the device in his hands.' He was declared dead at the scene, the television station reported.

With all the people staring into their hands, this won’t be the last.
On a similar note, I read a hilarious column in a local paper about 6 months ago noting that far more people die nowdays from being distracted while taking selfies than die in shark attacks.

However, I suspect the frequency of people being distracted by selfies is higher by orders of magnitude than that of people who go for a swim in the ocean.
Just a matter of time before somebody gets eaten by a shark while taking a selfie.
I believe the column raised the possibility. More concretely for our area are people who try to take selfies with wild bears.
Beautiful, but very dangerous area.

Easier than you think.
Every day drivers cause accidents because they are texting on cell phones while driving cars. I am certain many such accidents cause fatalities. I read somewhere a distracted cell phone user is more dangerous than a drunk driver.
How about phone distraction deaths, compared to Guns? Climbing for sure
Well, I can see someone suing because there wasn’t a fence or a guard rail to stop idio......people from straying over the cliff.
But the ‘environmentalists’ will gripe about the fence and they will end up with an electronic warning system which will wee wee some other group off.
Meanwhile, while WE pay for and ‘solve’ this non problem thousand of ‘guests’ will flow across the border to get their handouts.
Is this GREAT country or what????
I feel a little sad for his man and his loved ones.
The only difference between this and walking in front of train,truck or car- is the only ones harmed are the dumbass, and his family.
