Ted Cruz:" No Interest" In Being Trump's VP
MoFo Politics ^ | 12/17/2015 | Via Aam Carolla

Dec. 17, 2015

Via Adam Carolla.

On whether Cruz would serve as Trump's VP:

Adam Carolla: They're talking a lot about you and Trump, and possibly vice presidency, has there been any discussion of that?

TC: Uh, none whatsoever. And I have no interest whatsoever.

On whether Cruz would pick Trump as VP:

AC: You don't want him to be your vice president??

TC: You know, it is difficult to see Donald Trump serving as anybody's vice president.

I agree with you. It’s a real long shot that TRUMP has a need for Cruz on the ticket. They are the same on the issues, sorta, and electorally Cruz has no base whatsoever in blue states outside of the South, so he could hurt TRUMP in the North. Donald is already doing fine in the South so he doesn’t need Cruz there.

Maybe his pick will be of some help in one of the three states it will take to win the General election. Democrats already have like 224 electoral votes if states fall as they did last election. Out of our field, only TRUMP can upset the expectations.

Frankly, TRUMP doesn’t need a VP, and Cruz is not VP material with all of his own energy and intellect. He would accept a cabinet position as maybe AG, where he can get his head wrapped around something he can repair and control for a change from the dead end senate.

We have got to get those people out of there. McConnell and Company, Cornyn, the Establishment leaders, Paul Ryan in the House. They have GOT to go, or they will block any president from doing the will of the people unless he is cut from the same socialist cloth as they are.

I may be wrong, but Cruz strikes me as too young to settle out fat and happy in the Supreme Court. He can be a firebrand and would be awesome in urgent repair of the Justice Department, which would also make him a member of the president’s cabinet.

Cruz would be too perfect to clean house and clean up the Justice Department— a real God-send for America in that rowdy position, after Holder’s ruthless damage to justice in America and this gal in there now, who is one more Obama sycophant, struck dumb, and a total seat warmer.

Comey comes after Hillary and nails her, means he is no push-over, himself.

May God be with us.

TRUMP, 2016

Since this is the sanest response, thank you for that, yes, of course helps with women. Since i’m speaking specifically of running with Cruz she continues the theme of being an outsider. Trump is the truest outsider but Cruz while holding office has held himself true to principles which has made him an outsider.
Bush is the ultimate insider in the group. I simply don’t see Cruz wanting Rubio anywhere near him after the campaign. Kasich helps in Ohio but nowhere else. Plenty of close states where Fiorina could make the difference.
Heck if i thought Christie could actually pull a northeast state in i would have said him but he has fallen in popularity in NJ so thats doubtful. I was all in for Walker originally but he pretty much melted down on the national stage.

You can go on about Cruz and then some as anyone can go
on about Trump to an even greater extent. Frankly, as my
choices go they are one and two. What bothers me is when
people like dragnet2 come up with spurious connections
between Cruz and the Bush family that are no more valid
than various things Trump has stated over the years. That
kind of stuff is right out of the liberal playbook. Cruz
split with the Bush clan when GW gave away the farm.
So, those conservatives who have to hate Cruz base it
on something other than a phony connection between him
and the family of one of his primary competitors.

I stated my preference as Cruz and Trump. So far, Trump
is saying the right things but I see nothing that would
compel him to be loyal to one constituency if he could
improve his lot by appealing to another. Cruz not only
says the right things but he has had a career which
demonstrates that he has made an effort to walk the
walk which is why he is my top choice.

What can some prior relationship between Cruz and the
Bush clan mean other than a conspiracy in your mind?
So what? You ever end an association with someone who
headed in a direction that did not suit you? Are you
saying that Cruz is forbidden from deciding that he
is more conservative than a Bush? Is Cruz just faking
his conservatism? Is he going to bow out at some point
and throw his support to Jeb? I hope you don’t think
that.

MERRY CHRISTMAS back to you, dragnet2!

Many here may not like her but Fiorina brings the most votes in as VP.

You mean because she has a vagina? or was cancer survivor? or is such a good candidate? or is so high in the polls?

It's not that we don't like her, it's the fact that she brings nothing {except sitting down to pee} to the Presidential race. Most conservatives don't vote because of body parts and a female conservative will never earn a lefty vote, so where is the upside?

There were two brothers. One went away to sea. The other became vice-president. Neither was ever heard from again.

It's an old joke but still valid, and Cruz know it. If Trump is the nominee Ted Cruz won't be on the ticket.

Cruz would make a better attorney general than VP.
Or even better... a supreme court justice.

Or even better still...president of the United States. Which is why he'll stay in the Senate, or maybe run for governor.

She's at what, 1% in some polls? Huckabee would bring more votes than that.

Plenty of close states where Fiorina could make the difference.

I disagree completely. Speaking as a woman I'm no more likely to vote for a ticket merely because there is a woman on the ticket than you are to vote for a ticket merely because there is a man on it.

But if gender is important, I still don't think that Fiorina brings anything to the ticket that couldn't be better filled by someone like Mary Fallin from Oklahoma. I find Fiorina shrill, prickly, and not very knowledgeable. She's from California, so she won't carry her home state. Cruz would be much better served by selecting someone else.

As for Trump, I pity any woman who would be in his administration unless they have big boobs and good legs.

I agree, but Trump will do whatever it takes to win and if he feels that Carly on the ticket will tip the balance in a number of voters' minds, then I could easily see him picking her.

Considering the contempt that Trump has shown towards her why would Fiorina accept?

Jesse Helms!

Helms has been dead six years. And while that may be an advantage in a vice-president, since there is no way he could embarrass the administration, it would make it hard to take the oath of office.

Don't confuse campaign rhetoric with realpolitik. The Vice Presidency is a huge perk (and honor) and any of the candidates, with the exception of Trump himself, would leap to accept such an offer. The history of presidential politics is replete with examples of candidates who didn't get along but nevertheless were all smiles together after the nomination.

Right now the goal is to win the nomination, so of course the candidates need to "attack" each other. But after the dust settles the goal is to win the general election. Trump's path to victory is obvious: Keep the red states red and do something no Republican has done in decades: swing deep blue states like NY, NJ, and PA to the R column. It's difficult to see how he can lose the South to Hillary so the VP selection calculus will hinge on two factors: who can best help him in the "purple states" and who will do the least damage in NY.

What else would/should he say? I’m sure he’d step up to the plate if that time should come.

Although Trump probably has a better chance of carrying CA than Hillary has of carrying TX, I don’t think that’s going to be a major factor in VP selection.

Getting the Democrats to spend more money in California than they planned to would be a good thing! It would prevent such money from going elsewhere, instead.

You are probably right. My main reason for Cruz accepting the VOTE slot would mean the results of the election would be assured.

That said, there is no doubt in my mind that Cruz and Palin would be out enthusiastically for Trump, so there likely no advantage to having Cruz on the ticket.

Cruz is my overwhelming favorite. It appears that concerns about his electability are fading fast. As more people see this fact, it should eat into Trump’s numbers.
