Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone? (vanity)

Merry Christmas, fellow Freepers! Once again, it is Christmas Eve and once again, many of us find ourselves, for various reasons, alone. Many of us have circumstances that have led to a solo Christmas Eve. Mine: My marriage fell apart in 2009. Part of my agreement with my ex-wife is that she has our daughter Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and she is with me the rest of Christmas day. Not a perfect solution, but I would rather say âhelloâ than âgoodbyeâ to my little girl on Christmas. That, alas, means that on the Eve of our most family-oriented of holidays I find myself here. By myself. No big deal. Iâm used to it and have found I donât mind at all. Anyone else out there flying solo this evening?

Thanks so much for your prayers. Yes, I believe very much in the power of prayer.
Merry Christmas!

my kids are all grown...years ago....
All grand kids are grown...now with their own families....
One grand daughter lives down the road but she's off and gone with her church group....
SO.....
It's just me and the dogs (and new puppies).....
As long as I have my dogs...I'm never really alone.....
God Bless

Sort of alone. Wrapping gifts and sending Christmas greetings via e-mail to some old friends while I listen to 150 Christmas carols on iTunes in "shuffle" mode. Bing Crosby's "Do You Hear What I Hear?" was just up. Ed Sullivan's "O Bambino" is on now. These are two of the best versions of any Christmas song of all time, in my mind.
Getting ready for midnight Mass in a little while.
Merry Christmas and all the best to you and your daughter tomorrow. May 2016 and beyond bring nothing but great blessings for your family in times like this when we sometimes wish things could be better.
One cold and blessed winter,
In days beyond recall,
A Child was born to save us,
Born to save us all.
One cold and blessed winter,
Born to save us all.
O Bambino, mio Divino,
Io ti vedo qui tremar.

I spent a lot of time semi-alone on the holidays in the military.
With no children and overseas, I usually worked on the holidays, so others could be with their families.
I'm familiar with Divorce and it's one of the hardest things in life to go through.
However, there are times when my aging mother makes me desire to be somewhere else.
I do what I can, but her approaching second childhood is a real load.
Do what you can, and live where you choose, but service to others is rewarding in the end.

Merry Christmas to you and all others who are spending this holiday alone. I am lucky that my 20 yr old son still lives with me but am single as well. Lost my husband to cancer 11 years ago. But it’s ok, maybe one of these days I’ll find someone else. For now it’s me the boy and the dogs. All is well.

I've spent my Christmases alone since 1993. I'll cook my Christmas pasta dish tomorrow and wash it down with a bottle of red.
Tonight I'll entertain our troops at the FReeper Canteen.

Well, I don’t have the pup any longer. She has gone to the great kennel in the sky.
But, I do have my Saviour, my FRiends, and excellent Christmas music playing.
Life is good. Very good, indeed.

Look on the bright side. Christmas with your daughter tomorrow. Christ is coming to us tonight. We are less alone tonight than any other night of the year.
I am going to be heading out to Midnight Mass and so am planning to brew some coffee to stay awake.
There is an Old Time Christmas Radio Show thread here on FR.
This is a great night on tv. NBC is showing “It’s a Wonderful Life” in primetime and then Midnight Mass from the Vatican later. “The Bishop’s Wife” is on TCM. On EWTN at 10:30 Eastern time, Christmas Eve Mass from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
