Russia's bombing of Syria may amount to a war crime because of the number of civilians its strikes have killed, Amnesty International said on Wednesday, presenting what it said was evidence that the air raids had violated humanitarian law.
"Russian air strikes in Syria have killed hundreds of civilians and caused massive destruction in residential areas, striking homes, a mosque and a busy market, as well as medical facilities, in...attacks that show evidence of violations of international humanitarian law," Amnesty said in a new report.
Russia started its campaign of air strikes against militants in Syria on Sept. 30, saying it wanted to help the Kremlin's main Middle East ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, defeat Islamic State and other militant groups.
It has repeatedly and forcefully denied targeting civilians, saying it takes great care to avoid bombing residential areas.
When asked by Reuters to comment on the Amnesty allegations, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had no immediate comment, while the Russian Foreign Ministry said it first needed to study the report before giving any official reaction.

There are no provable civilian casualties.
Every single person who has died was dressed as the insurgent combatants.
Obama's too busy playing golf and John Kerry's too inept to know how to handle it or what to do.
Russia can do as it pleases because there is NO LEADERSHIP within view to challenge them at this point.
Why would anyone want to?
Leftard crapweasels...
Hogwash
My point was that there is NO ONE in this administration to challenge anyone.. ISIS included.

I wouldn't call using two CWIS mounts on a Somali pirate scow overkill, but I'll bet Amnesty International wasn't happy. You can also bet that Somalis were more cautious about which ships they attacked.
Amnesty International, working to keep itself irrelevant every day!
But Amnesty's leadership... do they care more about war crimes, or more about shaming countries that haven't adopted gay marriage and abortion?
And how would we be able to tell?
Amnesty International is Soros.
Soros wants Syria.
That’s why Soros’ hand puppet Obama was involved in the first place.
Technically, the UN has the treaty-based authority to arrest US presidents and military personnel — even citizens who commit âcrimesâ against humanity, against nature, etc. What many people do not know is that the senate had long ago [in the 50s] subordinated the US to UN decisions via a treaty. A progressive would argue that treaties trump our Bill of Rights.
The only reason the UN does not weild its power is that we are not yet socially conditioned enough to submit to such authority. But they are working on it, and we must resist and belittle the UN as much as possible until it is neutered.
How long has this been going on?
That statement is so historically ironic.
You can pretty much bet that if Amnesty calling war crimes on you, you’re starting to make the desirable impact.
To paraphrase William Sherman, “We cannot change the hearts of these people...but we can make war so terrible...make them so sick of war that generations will pass before they ever again appeal to it.”
War is a nasty business. Innocent people get hurt when you wage an effective campaign. Not intentionally, of course, but hurt nonetheless.
the existence of Amnesty is a crime
Poor Chris..... he was a great scout, an Eagle no less, but he went to the dark side when he succumbed to being an Amnesty employee
“...A progressive would argue that treaties trump our Bill of Rights....”
Yes, the same people who don’t understand “...shall not be infringed.” or “..subject to the jurisdiction thereof...” still don’t seem to grasp they cannot give that which they have no authority/power.
Course, that hasn’t stopped D.C. from passing, and ruling ‘lawful’, welfare, income tax, Federal Reserve, gold standard, SS, MediXYZ, Dept of XYZ, etc. etc. etc.
In my opinion, the last constitutional amendment is paramount. That’s the ‘last word’ of the people. But the progressives want treaties to weaken our rights.
Odd how we never hear anything from this Leftists clown posse about the mass murders done in the most barbaric ways by ISIS.
