More than 50 million Americans have not even STARTED their Christmas shopping yet and nearly half the country hasn't finished
Despite early retailer promotions meant to entice shoppers, 54 million Americans or or 17 percent have not started holiday shopping about a week before Christmas - one percentage point less than last year, a recent poll found.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted between December 14 to 18, also found that less than a third of shoppers had completely finished their shopping.
The pace of sales is crucial to retailers who receive a substantial portion of business during November and December.

I guess it’s too late to get on your gift list? Although I know how to make homemade jelly...I just don’t anymore.
And they bring it right to your door
It’s Sunday and I have yet to shop for Christmas.......key for me is I no longer ask what people want. After all it’s NOT THEIR Birthday. I’ll start probably Wed. Spend some time poking around at the Mall...and get it all done in a couple hours.
I HATE shopping! But love Antigue Shops, Thrift Stores, and on Occassion Flea Markets....which isn’t shopping...it’s a treasure hunt!LOL....
So help me, next time I either do curbside pick-up or do without.
We don’t do Christmas presents any more.
This thread is making me feel better. Thanks for posting.
50,000,005. The great Obama economy has ensured a lot more won’t be able to either...
50,000,006,
50,000,006,
Depends on how much you spend. I have just laid out 0.007897% of my money on Christmas presents.
(There’s nothing like spreadsheets!)
if i could get my frau to shoot, i could shop in my bunker. OTOH she likes i shoot and that i take my ccw seriously. for her i just need to go to the bunker, wrap up a couple of plastic models plus some boxes of ammo for stocking stuffers, win win.
Thatta boy
50,000,007. No money to spend.
I do very little Christmas shopping and it’s all tiny stuff for the grandkids. I was done the Monday after Thanksgiving. One small trip.
I write a check for each grandchild.
We have a grab for adults and I just purchase a gift card for whomever I get.
I’m incredibly lazy in my old age.
.
My wife and I still have some. Let me tell you. These kids change their minds on “what they want” even 10 minutes. Seriously what was “awesome” in June no longer is interesting for them. I could NEVER buy through the year as it would be a terrible christmas with Santa being a doofus getting “old” stuff that they no longer want. And the gifts have to match the Santa Letter too. What if you buy everything and then that letter doesn’t match? There goes christmas for the kids and probably ruin their lives forever.......lesser things have happened to make kids feel like they have crappy lives. lol.
It’s called drop ship ecards
Walked into Cabela's yesterday. Bad idea. The single line for the checkout registers (all were open) went from back to front to back to front - and this is one of the biggest, if not the biggest Cabela's. Checked the number dispenser in the gun department and it was forty numbers ahead of the 'now serving' display.
I left.
We don’t bother with it. A great dinner and lots of company. No gifts. It’s a terrific bother and frankly no one needs anything that they can’t themselves.
Wife and I don’t buy each other gifts anymore. We’re old and being with each other another Christmas is a gift. That means I spent exactly zilch this year.
