Man's best friend came about after generations of wolves scavenged alongside humans more than 33,000 years ago in south east Asia, according to new research.
Dogs became self-domesticated as they slowly evolved from wolves who joined humans in the hunt, according to the first study of dog genomes.
And it shows that the first domesticated dogs came about 33,000 years ago and migrated to Europe, rather than descending from domesticated European wolves 10,000 years ago as had previously been thought.
Scientists have long puzzled over how man's best friend came into existence but there is conflicting evidence on when and where wild wolves were first tamed.

Aw, my neighbor just has a cat... he’s pretty cool for a cat though, he’ll run up to me and demand to be petted when he catches me leaving the house :)

That is something very close to home right now, but I can't make the necessary fifteen year commitment. Commitment is exactly right. My two just turned 7. I've been nursing one back to health from some sort of liver issue that has me spending more money and more time making their food from scratch than I do making mine for myself.
None the less, I'm not sure I've given back to them anything close to what they have given to me.
When I die, one of the first things I'd like to know is what dogs really are.
My heart tells me that there must be way more to them than what I see with my eyes.
Thank you, God, for such a wonderful gift!

All I need to know about my dog is every day when I leave for work I get the most pathetic sad puppy face ever. When I return she leaps with joy and we have to hug.
By far, the best greeting I could ever have.

MANS BEST FRIEND.
What leads you to the conclusion that ragheads are even related to the HUMAN SPECIES?

Dogs are what they are, and while the symbiosis they have forged with some of mankind is unique, trying to explain it as "Man's best friend", simply does not address the relationship.
Dogs are not universally "friends" of ALL mankind. The selection of dog to man is actually much more of a two-way process.

I like it. I also read, (don't know who interviewed a dog), but dogs are like two year olds and you should not be a boring adult. So when she gives me a look , I know I am being a boring adult and it's time to play.

I think I will stick with my opinion for as Hub McCann put it in the movie 'Secondhand Lions':
"Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in."
So to me it doesn't matter if its true or not it is still worth believing in.
