Cruz, Sessions Target "Guest Worker Program" H1-B Visas "American Jobs First Act"
WND ^ | 12/11/2015 | Leo Hohmann

Sens. Ted Cruz and Jeff Sessions introduced a bill Friday in the Senate that would rein in the H1B “guest worker” program that has allowed Disney and other major corporations to replace their American tech workers with foreign "guest workers."

The American Jobs First Act of 2015 (S. 2394) would reform the H-1B visa program to stop abuse of the legal immigration system and ensure American workers are better served, Sessions said.

Sessions, R-Ala., notes, this bill is the "exact opposite in every way of the wage-crushing I-squared bill." I-squared, championed by the billionaire tech lobby, is designed to make it even easier for powerful corporations to pass over Americans in favor of lower-wage labor.

Cruz, the GOP senator from Texas, has been focusing his campaign on immigration and national security issues, a combination that seems to be resonating with the GOP base. He has been surging in the polls in key states such as Iowa, spurring the Hill to report that a Trump-Cruz one-two punch is the "nightmare" the GOP establishment sought to avoid.

"The American Jobs First Act of 2015 is a necessary effort to repair the H-1B visa program to prevent it from displacing American workers,” Sen. Cruz said. "This legislation aligns the program with its original intent, does more to prevent employers from using the program to replace hard-working American men and women with cheaper foreign labor, and helps to create greater transparency of job needs and opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, so that unemployed Americans with the necessary skills can apply for these jobs. It is my hope that the American Jobs First Act of 2015 becomes part of a broader congressional effort to make immigration work for the American people again."

They can change the rules all they want but the corrupt incompetent bureaucracy will never enforce it. The only solution is to kill H-1B visa, quotas to zero.

Cruz has called for a moratorium on the H1-B visa program in his immigration plan, as long as American workers are not fully employed.

I’m for Cruz but H1b has been one of his weak points; I’ve said several times he needs to address it.

I’m glad to see he is doing just that.

Immigration policy - and this includes H1b - must serve the interests of citizens first, foremost, always. With enormous numbers of Americans out of work it makes no sense to keep bringing in foreign workers.

Read the bill. Lots of weasel provisions. Session take slice better than none? Cruz knowing the holes and o.k. with them to please his donors?

Let’s get tough and hold all candidates feey to the fire.

That is not the full scope of it, if you take into account the legal immigration limits he calls for.

Cruz is in this because his history is catching up with him. His general strategy has been to dodge questions on amnesty but there’s a boatload of articles on his stance.

He’s out in the open now that he’s caught Trump in Iowa and that spotlights a little hot.

Senator Sessions confirmed the reasoning on the amendment raising H1Bs that did not pass that purists/trumpees cite in attempts to discredit Cruz.
I can’t find it bookmarked and no time to look it up now.
Besides, the serious trumpees do not care about facts and won’t change their minds.
Biggest laugh of the day, the post saying Rush was GOPe mouth piece.
I did run into this piece from 11/12/15:
Cruz, citing recent reports of abuses by large companies to facilitate outsourcing, said he was working on a bill with Sen. Jeff Sessions — a leading GOP hawk on immigration — to “fundamentally change the H1B program.”

“These stories are horrifying, those stories are a serious abuse of the program,”

Massive flip/flop for Cruz. Now he’s cozying up to Sessions to try and gain a little late credibility on immigration issues. Does he still want to “streamline legal immigration”, whatever that means.

Ted Cruz was a vocal supporter of expanding HB1 visas as recently as 2013, advocating for the expansion of these visas by 500%. He has argued for the expansion of these visas both on the Senate floor and in the media, but under pressure from Donald Trump for the votes of anti immigration Republicans, Cruz has now proposed that we suspend the program and investigate it for abuse. He says there is “report after report after report of big companies abusing the HB1 program”. His 180 on this issue is a direct result of the rise of Donald Trump, which seems to have made most of the Republican candidates go a little crazy.

H1B and immigration in general is Cruz’s achilles heel.

He clearly HAS flipped on the issue. And as far as Mexican or South American immigration in general, he identifies with it: how could he not?

Trump filled the vacuum that the Hate Americans RINO gang created: he went after the 50 year immigration disaster.

Now the followers are changing position and pretending to be fervent about it.

But we know who lead on the issue.

How sad...If it wasn’t for Palin (way back when) and now Trump, Cruz would be speaking out of the other side of his mouth...And how do we know that???
