Heartbroken Doberman Cries When Owner Surrenders Him To Shelter

On May 1, Jill Dyche was filming dogs at the Carson Animal Shelter in California when she heard a dog crying. When she found the 9 year old Doberman, she saw that his owner was surrendering him.

Jill captured the Dobie’s heartbreak on video and shared it on Facebook. It soon went viral.

Actually, they don’t have the whole story.

The *owner* did not turn him in.

It was his son’s dog and the son *was in the military* and the dad got tired of tending to the old dog’s needs.

There was a huge effort to get the dog fostered until the son came home.

I know he was pulled from the shelter by a rescue group but I left that Dobermann forum over the crap that went on about the son.

I thought he should have his dog back because *he* loved him and had no idea his bastard dad had done that and too many members of the forum thought the dog should go to another person.

So, I left.

But he definitely was pulled from the shelter.

I watched this stuff go down “live” last year.

The OWNER was not even aware this had been done.

He did *not* know about this, nor did he get his dog back when he came home.

Rather than fostering and fixing up the dog, to be given back to him, another woman kept it.

Yeah, that seems to be how it works.

I spent two days crying over poor dead ‘Halla this week and could not shake it.

It is what it is, sometimes and you just have to let it run its course, I reckon.

Dogs don't cry but they do show fear and melancholy

They often whine or whimper or get lethargic

I have had many big dogs all my life. I'm on my third Rott now

We had very very aggressive standard American Bulldog named Bedford from puppy to aged two.

As he fully matured he just didn't ease to the hierarchy well

He was great with me....they always are...they see me as like Zeus and usually submit

But he nipped two kids of mine and then really but the last one who bless his heart considered him his dog

Where I live any bite requiring over 24 hour hospital stay requires euthanasia by law....the dog that is

If I'd been home I may have shot the dog but my large family begged off so I called the breeder in Georgia and he agreed to take him back

Which he did and studded him and showed for two years and then sold him to a French guy in Bordeaux where he's their prize DNA

He's a great physical specimen but not suited for kids or strangers

When my oldest boy and I drove him back down to South Georgia it was very sad and when we pulled onto the guys farm the dog got whimpers

He just knew even though only 6 weeks when he left.....boy that was a sad long 6 hour drive back north to home in TN

Lots of strange dogs including his daddy who got the kennel next to him and snarled at him

It turned out ok but we still miss him

It is nice he's prospering doggie style

a truly remarkable physical Scott style ABD....these dogs are smart unlike most bully breeds like the Johnsons which are dull....but they are fearless......and stamina...used for coursing and catching game in heavy or dense foliage and for guarding....some will handle unruly livestock

If it helps you, I watched this go down in a FB rescue group “live”, last summer and the videos of him walking and playing after he was “sprung” from the shelter were fairly happy ones.

He got fixed up but never was returned to his real owner.

There are a few groups out there that will help with pets of deployed military. But one has to make an effort to find them. Apparently he didn’t care enough to do so [for whatever reason].

Just reading that made me sad-no way will I watch the video, but I’m happy the dog will have a new home and be loved-pet animals are not fashion accessories or objects meant to amuse-they are God’s creatures.

My Siberian Husky will be 17 next month-she is mostly blind, not as active as she used to be, but she still wants to play Iditarod at least once a day, so I take her out on her long leash and we run in a clear flat space on the property where she will not fall.

I cater to her whims, and spoil her with her favorite food and treats-18 months ago, she jumped up snarling like a wolf when the former occupant of this property crashed through the front door cursing at me-which gave me time to reach for the pistol on my desk-she has always been protective, which I’m told is unusual for a Husky-whether it is or not, she deserves my love and pampering-she is very old-likely won’t be with me much longer, and I want her to enjoy each and every day.

I have proudly shared my life with 3 different dobies through the years and will say without reservation they are the most human of dogs.

I would be living with another except for my fear he would outlive me.

i HAVE PET INSURANCE FOR MY DOGGIE....

the funny thing when the renewal papers come there is a formal complete HPPA page.ha. Her vet can not release her medical information with out a release from any other dogs. ha.
