I am sorry to have to announce this but I will not be on Tonight or any other night, yes I am going to hang it up. Whoever this crazy person is, they are not stopping and it has come to the point that we as a Family do not feel it is worth the risk. While I think the person or persons are after me, my Wife and now my Daughter are really scared, the other night after the latest incident my Daughter was off in the corner of her bed scared to death as the Police cars came screaming up. I will not put my Family through this. As you all know I dearly love what I do but not at the expense of never ending Terrorism. I want to thank those of you who have shown so much support and it has been my joy, short as it has been to have cracked that Mic open for a last time. This was a Family decision. The girls stuck with me and still would but if one of them were harmed because of what I love doing my life would be over.

Art: Modern technology is a wonderful thing.
1. Total home alarm system
2. Mossberg 500 tactical shotgun
She might only be ten years old, or so. He remarried a younger Filipino woman when his wife died.
It was not too long before he married again.
Dang, that’s horrible. I used to quite enjoy his show if I was up late. Some topics were kooksville...but some not. Sometimes I listen to Caravan to Midnight from YouTube if aI can’t sleep. Great ‘late night’ ambience.
Must be because of the Hale-Bopp UFO thing.
I forgot to add:
During his Coast-to-Coast incarnation 10 years ago, someone also made up lies about Art supposedly having been a part-time porno producer in Salinas, Calif, while he was working as a police dispatcher.
That was a big BS harassment campaign.
THEN, someone probably from the Phillipines took offense to something he said on the air and concocted a letter “from Art himself” decrying the very many ways that he hated Phillipino people. Of course that was and is ridiculous, as he was then married to a partly Phillipina woman and is now married to a full Phillipina.
But somehow that letter was circulated far and wide in the US Phillipino community, and he got very many death threats from that.
Very many times he had to explain how the letter was a total fabrication and had nothing to do with him.
I think these frequent campaigns against him originate in people who are nuts or who have very strong feelings about religion and can’t stand people who have a public voice and entertain ideas about spirituality that are different from their own.
I think Art is gone for good, this time.
When you live your life in Bizzarro land, bizarre things happen.
live by the weird...
It actually sounds like paranoid schizophrenia.
He was an avid HAM operator, right? I wonder if he will still be using it?
Add a couple of large aggressive dogs to the mix.
Most definitely! Nothing like a pair of Rotties or Dobies frothing at the mouth when you drop over the wall. LOL!
I think it’s inconceivable that Art would give up playing around with his HAM radios.
He used to give out his identifier on a pretty regular basis —even my friend in Germany apparently proved able to contact him, that way some years ago.
He is much more reclusive now, and I suspect for the same reasons he cited here he will change his identifier and/or never give it out again publicly.
I think PART of his problem is not only his on-air subject matter but because he lives in an non-exclusive, working-man’s area of Pahrump, NV. in which ANY type of car hanging around does not appear out-of-place.
I guess 1/3 of the legit residents are driving beaters and dusty land-yachts.
If kooky whackos in beater vans staked out Rush’s place —or anywhere near his neighborhood— the cops would be all over them in a heartbeat.
Art LOVES the high-desert and never had a taste for glitzy stuff, save for radio gear and one very fast car.
I blame George Noory...
Art Bell is not retiring. That is conspiracy talk!! : )
I had read about Art Bell for years, but never listened to him.
A couple of months ago, one radio station that I listen to via Internet late night started his program. It was interesting at times and way out there at other times.
I am sorry to hear he is leaving.
Well that just sucks.
I wonder if stuff like this ever happened to Long John Nebel...
