Officials at the Citadel Military College say eight cadets have been suspended as a result of photos that appear to show cadets wearing white sheets on their heads...

Preliminary reports are cadets were singing Christmas carols as part of a “Ghosts of Christmas Past” skit. These images are not consistent with our core values of honor, duty and respect.

I was prepared to defend them for dressing as a ghost by wearing a sheet.

But the photos are pretty damning. A pillowcase with the corner pointing up?? Pretty dumb guys. Pretty darn dumb.

They’re supposed to be ghosts. There’s no KKK regalia. Let’s ask Robert Byrd, D-WV if these are regulation KKK robes.

Yeah, ok, let’s ask the GHOST of Robert Byrd, D-WV, if these are regulation ghost costumes or regualtion KKK robes.

Come to think of it ... why aren't the snowflakes in West Virginia demanding that all statues, bathhouse door plaques and other tributes to Robert Byrd (KKK-WV) be removed?!

Oh, wait ... because he was a Democrat, the fact that he was the KKK's chief recruiter for West Virginia is excused because "his intentions were good".

You know what else isn't consistent with Citadel core values? Stupidity, jumping to wrong conclusions and hysterical overreaction.

"Even if it's not offensive to you and you're not actually kind of portraying KKK members, it looks to me obviously like you are," she said. "

The cadets must be punished because of some special little snowflake's ignorance. Well, at least they didn't say the word niggardly.

There's this big national push to repudiate and erase any symbolism of the Confederacy.

So shouldn't the nation demand West Virginia remove the name of KKK Recruiter Robert "KKK" Byrd from every single bridge, building, park, highway and whatever has his name on it?

Were the photos taken at night when they were asleep in their beds? Maybe we should all have black sheets? But then, that could be misconstrued as “blackface”.

Old Corps here.

Gross Poor Judgement

Bust the Senior, 181 Tours, 29 Demerits.

The Knobs, well at least they didn’t get beaten for just hangn’ around.

Suspending them is too easy on them.

My recollection is that the intent of the KKK in wearing sheets was so that they would look like ghosts. The point was to scare blacks away from voting by both violence and superstition. Their sheets were intended to convey the impression of "ghosts."

But they didn’t do it by putting a sheet over their head like Casper the Friendly Ghost. They used a sack (like a pillowcase) over their heads so their arms and legs could be free to ride and shoot. These cadets are really stupid.

Go to the page. Look at the photos. Then tell me hey look like ghosts.

They are in college. And they are attending a college that expects young men to think before they act.

No excuse, Sir. Take the punishment and learn.

Some days the Bear gets you.

Ghosts... are not consistent our core values of honor, duty and respect. Like respect for the arts or respect for diversity because there were no black ghosts. I am at a loss for words to describe the administration; all I can think of is ignorant, obtuse, moronic, cretinous, mindless, but they all seem to fall short for the occasion.

You must have never been to West Virginia. It would take decades to remove Byrd’s name from everything there. Just about every other road, government building, park, and outhouse is named after the Cyclops.
