ANNVILLE, Pa. â Students at a small Pennsylvania college are demanding that administrators rename a building called "Lynch Memorial Hall" because of the racial overtones of the word "lynch."
The building is named after Clyde A. Lynch, who was president of Lebanon Valley College from 1932 until his death in 1950.
Students want administrators to either rename the building entirely or add Lynch's first name.
It was included on a list of demands that students presented on Friday. Others include a more diverse curriculum and more sensitivity training for staff.
School spokesman Marty Parkes said Tuesday that officials are considering all of the demands and will address them at a forum next month. Parkes calls Lynch a "very important figure" in the college's history.

I do hope the administrators tell the students where to stick it.
What a bunch of whining crybabies.
I’d really like to see the president of that institution to say “the world has much more important things to think about than their feelings. If you don’t like it here, go elsewhere.”
I guess there are no current students named “Lynch.”
Get rid of Loretta while they’re at it.
Do they want the Attorney General to change her last name?
This could be the ONE time I give a thumbs up to Lorreta Lynch, if she gets on camera and tells these big babies to STFU, and get on with their studies. She already tends to involve herself in regional, or local issues, such as The Innocence of Clock Boy.
In this case it appears that there is someone with 2 brain cells - “or add Lynch’s first name.” Unless that requires 24 carat gold letters on the building, this is actually a single sensible suggestion in a plethora of idiocy. Will wonders never cease!
I agree with what Loretta wrote all those times in her life when she had to fill out a form asking for: Lastname Firstname.
Lynch Name Meaning
Irish: reduced Anglicized form of Gaelic à Loingsigh âdescendant of Loingseachâ, a personal name meaning âmarinerâ (from long âshipâ). This is now a common surname in Ireland but of different local origins, for example chieftain families in counties Antrim and Tipperary, while in Ulster and Connacht there were families called à Loingseacháin who later shortened their name to à Loingsigh and also Anglicized it as Lynch.Irish (Anglo-Norman): Anglicized form of Gaelic Linseach, itself a Gaelicized form of Anglo-Norman French de Lench, the version found in old records. This seems to be a local name, but its origin is unknown. One family of bearers of this name was of Norman origin, but became one of the most important tribes of Galway.English: topographic name for someone who lived on a slope or hillside, Old English hlinc, or perhaps a habitational name from Lynch in Dorset or Somerset or Linch in Sussex, all named with this word.
Rename it “Hang”
Less letters.
These are the same people who had a man fired over using the word niggardly. Not the deep end of the IQ pool.
Remember when a bunch of animal rights wackos wanted the Fishkill Creek renamed?
“Lebanon” sounds too terrorist to me.
They must change the town name to “Shelbyville.”
Sounds like these kids need to take remedial everything. It is amazing they made it to college age without getting hit by a car while chasing a ball in the street. They will not be sending their resumes to Merrill Lynch which they think is a plantation.
Clearly everyone named Lynch should change their name so liberal whites won’t be offended on behalf of blacks.
And I thought we were past Lynch Mobs.
seems they should have done it already.
