Get one that is belt fed, with an electric feeder.
Of course, the question for many is whether a pump makes more sense. Best way to answer that question is probably to buy a Mossberg or Remington pump first (less expensive) and then go for the auto. If you already have a pump, you will certainly enjoy the auto.
As you may know, the average in-town ranges often do not allow shotguns so one has to find some safe open area or a trap shooting facility.
Apparently, one of the early things new S12 owners do is to install an after-market gas selector ("V plug" ??) It is a simple screw-in device that seems to cost approx $25. It basically give the shooter a chance to dial in more appropriate settings for various loads so as to avoid FTE's. (I haven't done that yet so have no comments.)
Awesome...thanks for the post. I do own a Remington tactical pump, but like you said the in town ranges don’t allow the use unless trap shooting.
Bingo! Reliable, cheap, and great reputation.
I hate the pistol grips with a passion.
Try black aces tactical. Mag fed modified pump shotguns based on a Mossberg 500.
If I didn’t already have a converted Saiga12, I would buy the VEPR. I have three VEPR rifles and they are a little more solidly built than the Saiga rifles.
I have not had any complaints about the Saiga though.
Both can be slightly mag picky, but that seems the natural state of mag feed semi shotguns. If you follow the mag fitting instruction they normally work flawlessly.
The other item to read up on is the gas adjustment. Web searches on both will get loads of info.
Great...thanks for your input! I will take a look at the VEPR...
Picked up an FNH Self Loading Police (SLP) Magnum 6+1 a couple of weeks ago. Pricey but quality and battle proven, 7 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. No pistol grip, don’t do that, in my opinion anyway.
It’s so sweet, if you can afford one, I highly recommend it.
Most of us understand - never can tell how “someone else” might interpret it...
