The Walking Dead has become the most boring show on television
NY Post ^ | December 5, 2015 | Kat George

The zombie apocalypse, it would seem, is an infinite source of story inspiration. What would individuals become? What would humanity devolve to? What would the world turn into? And yet somehow, The Walking Dead has managed to become the most boring show on television. Granted, I do not watch every single show on TV (because even work-from-home writers need to shower sometimes), but I can say with fair certainty I’d rather watch that show about Alaskan prospectors than AMC’s zombie saga. And when I say that I mean an episode where they prospect almost nothing at all. That’s how boring The Walking Dead has become.

(It’s worth mentioning here that I’m about to get into some spoilers, but most of them are a few seasons old by now. With that being said, let’s get on with the show…)

Let me qualify this announcement: TWD wasn’t always boring. It had a strong start, and a gripping first few seasons that might be comparable to Lost, another show which long outstayed its welcome. When viewers first entered the world of TWD, as we did with Lost, we were immediately thrown into the middle of catastrophe. The first episode of TWD taps into a very specific, very universal apocalypse anxiety. Namely, that is that the apocalypse will happen when we’re not looking, and that we’ll walk out into it alone, with no context for what happened, and no information about the state the world is in. And like Lost, there’s the mystery of the CDC, which is very Dharma Initiative-y, and the hermit scientist Jenner is very Desmond inside the hatch-y (although not half as handsome).

Indeed, TWD’s first season is responsible for some of the most iconic imagery in recent television history.

Back when I was a Firefighter/EMS, long ago and far away, we used to watch the TV show Emergency! and critique technique, especially patient handling and packaging. You can use something like that as a training tool, to get people in the right mindset, or at least thinking "What if?"

I am sure our patients appreciated it, and we had far fewer injuries on the fire line, too.

If people can watch the zombie apocalypse on TV and figure out what was done that was just plain dumb or wrong, maybe it will save them from making the same mistake if they are ever confronted with a crisis situation.

Yep, I agree with you. I’m really invested in these characters and I do love the show.

My other annoyance is the short spurts of “seasons” 6 episodes and they are off for months? Take off then and be gone then, it’s wearing thin.

I have a friend like this. She doesn't watch it and anyone who does is not a Christian. The reason is is that it's satanic that people would be walking around after they are dead. And no, she is not one of those screaming on the street types.
But Patricia, it's just a TV show, no one is really dead.
But, but, if they WERE, it would be satanic!!!!
Patricia.... (banging head on desk)

Add me to that groups that is giving up. sigh. Not quite yet, but instead of shunning all my friends on Sunday night, I’m recording and then not even watching for weeks on end. That just started this season. I miss how exciting it was. When Morgan appeared at the end of last season, I cheered. Now I can’t stand him!

You're a real dope, aren't you? I was responding to the thread poster's "Sorry about the added crap characters. They don't show up until I go to post the article so I can't edit them out."

The subject of the thread is how boring the friggin show 'now' is. I went a wee bit further saying I thought it was always boring. So what. Did I hurt your little feelings?

I think the “wussification” of Glenn was irritating and a harbinger of Morgan. Really. Glenn took this Nicholas under his widdle wing, after watching how he got Noah killed....eaten alive???? ick. Audiences like it better when the actors are competent, forceful. Glenn in the beginning, not Glenn now

"You can use something like that as a training tool"

Yup. Mom (an EMT trainer) frequently used it as a "What NOT to do" training tool.

For instance, they rarely strapped people down before moving them. BIG no-no.

One of my favs was watching one of them do CPR with one hand while both they and the victim were standing up in a cherry picker. Laugh out loud funny.

As an aside, have you ever seen the movie "Mother, Juggs and Speed"? Not really a classic, unless you've ridden an ambulance. Mom and Dad went to see it in the theater with the rest of the squad; they all were rolling in the aisles while the rest of the crowd sat quiet and wondering why.

And yet, there’s the code still. And the almost never-ending fundraising plays on......

No, I'm not a dope. I'm calling you on this one. All you've done is come on a Walking Dead thread and 1. complain and gripe about how you'd never watch it, and 2. talk about quotation marks.
When you don't have an argument, you call names. That doesn't even faze me because your opinion on this is flawed.

You don’t bother me. You’re not important enough to bother me. LOL. Note I don’t have an infantile need to call you silly names.
