Obama could outright ban all private ownership of firearms by decree, and threaten everyone, and it would amount to approximately jack/shit.

Trying to ban something that is a guaranteed right to own under the Constitution would be a total disaster for the federal government, not to mention trying to confiscate all of the firearms (at least the ones they know about) would probably set off another civil war in the US, and would be open season on anyone associated with the feds.
