Suspected burglar stuck in Huron home’s chimney dies after residents light fire

A man who apparently got stuck in the chimney of a Huron home during a botched burglary attempt died Saturday after the homeowners lit a fire in the fireplace, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t believe that chimneys built since the fifties at least have flues large enough for a person of any size, and even if they did, there’s the damper. My mom’s house was built in the sixties and none of the flues are large enough to even enter to get stuck.

Before I light a fire in my fireplace, I always climb up on my roof and spray a little Burgler-Be-Gone(TM) lubricant in my chimney to dislodge any pesky burgers that might be stuck there. Anybody with any sense would. It’s simply a matter of common sense safety.

I can’t imagine what that would be like to find out someone was not only stuck in your chimney, but died there as well.

Temperatures in Fresno this time of year typically don't require the use of a fireplace........

I suspect the homeowner knew the thug was in the chimney and acted accordingly...........LOL!
