I have both. I like old movies and find a lot more of them on Netflix.
I like Netfix better but subscribe to them both
‘I use the amazon more for movies and Netflix for old TV shows.
I didn’t like Hulu
I have had Amazon Prime since before they started streaming videos. If you order much from Amazon then it is worth it for the free shipping.
There is a lot of overlap between Amazon Prime and Netflix, but there are some movies that you will find on only one or the other. Amazon also has rental movies, which includes just about anything that you can find on DVD.
I would not get Amazon Prime just for the movies but free shipping and music too makes it worthwhile. And if your are a huge movie fan, it might be worth it as its inventory of movies appears to be much larger than Netflix.
wasn’t very impressed with my free month of AP. Had to usually pay for the best movies.
I love quirky little discovered horror and drama movies :)
I’ve found a lot of good movies on netflix that i’ve never seen. But I guess Netflix DVD is the best way to get the A list movies, or do you pay for them also?
i dont have Netflix DVD
I am not an all the time movie watcher. I didn’t need Netflix, so I canceled it. Prime is perfect for my needs. I order a lot from Amazon and like the free shipping and Kindle specials.
Amazon has many less watchable options than Netflix. Just not worth it.
I like Amazon Prime because I can pay for a year at a time. I do not permit automatic withdrawals on my accounts.
For us, the free 2 day shipping is the main benefit.
Free streaming selection is spotty, the Amazon music is worthless, some of the original series are awful (e.g. “Transparent”), others pretty good (”The Man in the High Castle”).
Stream quality was irregular, but has gotten better since we changed ISPs. I wouldn’t suggest it for HD.
If you have a Kindle, you get some options at free titles, but I believe they pick the titles.
I tend to like Netflix more. They have better “original” programming.
I cannot remember the last time I used Amazon prime for anything other than free shipping.
Right now I have Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon.
I still have cable but I am cutting the cord in January.
I am planning to sign up for Sling TV as I can get just a few channels I really want, most important TCM for the old movies. That will run about $25.00 a month.
Now as to the others, my thinking is that I may drop Netflix simply because the choices are not as good as I think Hulu Plus and Amazon are.
Between Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus you can just about get everything, and all the current stuff on Network TV and watch at your convenience. So by my reckoning I will save at least $125 a month going this route.
By the way when you get a digital antenna you get a local as well as some other good channels also.
Have Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu. Netflix has best movies, Hulu best TV. Have found, over a few years, that I mainly watch Hulu.
From what I’ve seen, Amazon Prime Videos include more hard-to-find items.
and many items I ordered were NOT ELIGIBLE for Amazon Prime shipping. I made out just as well using free shipping and waiting an extra few days.
I’ve got both and over that last year Amazon Prime has passed Netflix in value IMO.
to both of you, are amazon’s movie choices streaming or do they do hard dvd’s via snail mail like netflix?
I like streaming movies and netflix’s choices don’t seem to be all that robust.
I haven't had cable for ages and don't miss it at all.
Cut the cable!
I did it two years ago and my only regret is missing out on NFL football. But there's a Buffalo Wild Wings and other sports bars nearby where I can get my fix.
Waiting formTCM on Roku someway somehow.
You may also want to check out YouTube as they have a lot of old movies and some old TV shows.
The main problem with YouTube (actually two) you really have to search without knowing what is available, and 2) you may find something in one search and it is taken down later.
Having said that, I have found a lot of interesting stuff on YouTube to watch.
