That’s a way of pronouncing it. Like lever and lever. (Leh ver....Lee ver)

I can remember as a kid, late night listening to Beaker Street (KAAY - Little Rock), and they would occasionally play the album in its entirety.

My favorite was always the ditty about being a rehabilitated litterer.

You're being corrected

It's a Bob Dylan lyric and he pronounced it, in the song .. motor sickle

This is not a grammatical critique

I’ve heard people pronounce it motor sickle long before Dylan. It is a regional pronunciation

then LBJ and to a lesser extent Nixon decided we needed to fight a war in a tiny country in perpetuity.

It was Kennedy who began the escalation of USA involvement. He desperately needed to look strong against Communism after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, the construction of the Berlin Wall, and finally, the Cuban missile crisis.

I was right in the midst of the liberal, hippie 1960's growing up in high school and college before I joined the military. I loved this song and most of the music of that era. It was my time.

But growing up during those years, there are two ways I still refer to policemen or deputies and law enforcement officers today. Officer Obie from Alice's Restaurant and "Book 'em, Dano" from Hawaii Five-O. Young folks don't have a clue what I'm talking about. :-)

I think Arlo may have gone back to some basic roots when he became more of a Libertarian in his old age.

Maybe he either grew up or got well.

Last night I was indulging in some late 60s-early 70s rock -- CSNY, Joplin, Carole King, etc. As enjoyable as it was, I felt uncomfortable because it meant reliving mentally those horrible days when the counterculture aggressively invaded the mainstream. Maybe it's a paradox that amorality can produce great music. These people were considered heroes.
