People magazine's pick for their annual "Sexiest Man Alive" cover story is ... another white guy.
David Beckham, the 40-year-old retired soccer star, received the nod on Tuesday, making him the latest in a long line of white men so honored since the magazine started awarding the title 30 years ago. Denzel Washington is the only person of color to ever grace a "Sexiest Man Alive" cover, and that was 19 years ago. Meanwhile, four white actors (Richard Gere, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp) have earned the distinction twice.

"I'm not personally slighted by it, majorly because I don't really expect publications like PEOPLE to acknowledge men who look like me based on precedence. I will say, though, whether done subconsciously or not, it's a reminder that whiteness is centered and anything outside of that remains in the pile of 'less than,'" Ebony magazine columnist Michael Arceneaux told MSNBC via email.

Obvious answer is obvious.
Because gang and thug tattoos on the face and neck just don’t say ‘sexy’, so outside of Hollywood, say like major league sports figures, there aren’t too many in the running.
Awwwww, the poor things! not on the cover of a low-IQ shallow fluff magazine! Woe is them. Now they have something to wail about. Surely this will convince the American people that America’s #1 first and foremost victim group deserves reparations.
Interesting. I wasn't aware that Blair Underwood, Morris Chestnut, Nathan Owens and Denzel Washington had done time at all.
Why doesn’t “Ebony” have white people in it???
Why is is it you never see a white person on the cover or in the pages of Ebony, Upscale, Sister 2 Sister, Essence? What about that, isn’t that racist?
Why are there so few blacks on the cover of Neurosurgery Today, or Engineering Journal, or Journal of Nuclear Physics? must be discrimination.
Why hasn’t there ever been a black world chess champion? That’s racist!

Actually, there IS a “whites only†safe space at colleges where BLM people not only don’t go but don’t even know exists.

More like reading is a "white" thing. I'm sure that if another sub-demo of their readership was desirable to advertisers, that's to whom they'd be appealing as well.
