Microsoft has given notice to its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners that they must no longer sell personal computers with operating systems older than Windows 10 from the middle of next year.
Windows 8 PC sales must end July 1 next year Australian time.
Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8.1 can no longer be preinstalled on new computers from November 1, 2016, Microsoft said in its updated Windows Lifecycle Fact Sheet.
The Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 were sunset on November 1 last year by Microsoft.

Did you actually read the article? It just means they won’t manufacture NEW PCs with an OLD OS on them. Do you think anyone else does that? Does Apple sell Macs with an old version of OS-X on it?
It amazes me how much of the anti-Microsoft sentiment is ignorance-driven propaganda and other forms of misinformation.
You are not “forced” to do anything. Why you guys keep repeating this nonsense is lost on people with the ability to read.
Go buy a copy of those OSs off of Ebay or Amazon and spend the next 45 years with them if you want. You will not get support and updates forever because it costs lots of money to patch old software for people that think that computing tech stops the moment they like it enough and that it should never move past that.
Microsoft is a company, not a charity to continue to sell and support old OSs forever. No more than Apple or even Linux. And believe me neither of them are supporting versions of those OSs from 2001.

It doesnt matter. Microsoft OWES them, and should continue to sell copies of XP (or some outdated OS) forever and ever.
It’s like someone in 2001, when XP debuted, demanding that MS still sell and support a copy of Windows sold in 1990 because that’s the version where the “icons were the way I liked them”.
Already there. Have been for about two decades now. :)

Quite a few, actually. Along with many variations of the OS that I have worked with over the years -it all depends upon which one you select to work with. Lots of downloadable Boot CDs to play with before deciding which one works best for you as well.
I recommend the 'NetRunner' distro. :)

Wait a minute folks, Bill Gates just came out last week and demanded that Socialism is the Only Cure for Amerika, with that I thought he was going to relinquish his fortune to Obama and tell ALL WINDOWS USERS to immediately switch to Linux because it is FREE and will not contribute to greedy capitalist’s!
