Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the American rock band Styx. It was released by A&M Records on August 22, 1995.

This album essentially replaced Styx's previous greatest hits album, Styx - Classics, Volume 15, which was released by A&M in 1987. That previous album had excluded the hit song "Lady" because the song was originally recorded for and released through Wooden Nickel Records (which also had a distribution arrangement with RCA Records). Because A&M/Polygram had been unable to secure distribution rights to the song, most of the classic lineup of Styx (Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, Chuck Panozzo, and James "J.Y." Young) reunited to re-record the track at Dennis' home studio, The White Room. They were joined by uncredited session drummer Todd Sucherman, who filled in for John Panozzo due to Panozzo's failing health; Sucherman joined the band permanently in 1996, during the Return to Paradise tour. The track, which is very similar to the original, was titled "Lady '95".

With the exception of "Lady '95", Styx - Greatest Hits features the original album versions of all the other songs included in the compilation. "Come Sail Away" is presented here in its full 6:05 version and "Miss America" is here in its original studio version (despite the CD's packaging showing incorrect time listings for both tracks).

In the palm of your hand.
But your hand’s drenched with sweat, and your head needs a rest.....”

That my friends, is a rock ballad.

I was never a big Styx fan but saw them in concert two years ago and they put on a great show. I really enjoyed it.

Styx was so many people's least favorite band. They were horrible.

The lead vocals of grating falsettos irritated millions. The ridiculously foolish looking drummer was a visual turn-off too.

A miserable affront put forward by Big Media execs to make millions through cultural degradation.

Styx contributed nothing but ugliness. Like their name. A loathsome collection of poseurs and front men for greedy leftist's enrichment.

I saw them in January of 1980. They put on a fantastic show back then. Still one of the best concerts I ever attended.

When I was in HS, we had an 8 track tape player in the gymnastics room.

Equinox got well played during practice.

Also ‘Babe’, ‘Lady’, ‘Come Sail Away’, ‘Renegade’.

Blue Collar Man is one of my favorites!

Check out the version on their "Big Bang Theory" cd from a few years ago. That album is mostly covers of other performers' songs that the band members liked or found inspiring, but they did include that older Styx number at the end. The Tommy Shaw / Jack Blades acoustic version is nice, too.

I've never been a big fan of "Greatest Hits" albums. I mean, who are THEY, to pick out the hits?

I prefer to listen to the studio albums and then cull my own personal choices into my own mix. Or I just listen to the studio album as it was intended to be by the artist.

I actually do have a Styx playlist on my iTunes and I inserted "Desert Moon" by Dennis DeYoung in there. Not a true Styx song but it could very well be. Right up there with the best of Styx - in my personal opinion.

Although a different sound altogether, Bread was good too. Soft and mellow. Definitely requires the right time and place though.

I saw Styx in 1977, as the warm-up band to KISS.

I think, AV has Styx confused with KISS.... They were truly horrible..

Styx was fantastic. I play a lot of their songs.
