The other day I was watching a rerun of a popular TV show from the past. Suddenly it occurred to me that this was the most CONSERVATIVE TV show ever despite the fact that it wasn't specifically a political show.
Okay, I'll give you the name: DRAGNET. I was watching the color version that came back to the airwaves in 1967. Detective Joe Friday didn't fool around. He was all business with NO apologies in enforcing the law. Also notable was how he sneered at hippies, drug addicts, or (in the case of the episode I was watching) idiotic teenyboppers who shoplifted strictly to be members of a dopey club.
The X-Files had an inherent conservative streak, sometimes overt and sometimes more subversive. The case is well laid out in this article from 2008:

Rural Purge and the shows they put on to replace those shows really were a big part of our move left as a nation.
OH yea, Helen Crump. She was in life a heavy smoker, died young. The others were earlier, when it was in B&W.
Last Man Standing
Tim Allen’s character is clearly conservative.
“It was a documentary show, like a lot of stuff on early tv.”

I was aware of that—I watched it when it first aired on our teeny little black and white TV.
I usually don’t use the word “show” to describe a documentary.
.
Glad you like my choice and I like all your points as well especially about Burger.
He wasn’t a power mad nut and neither was Tragg. They were doing their jobs.
There was one episode where Burger asked Mason to help a friend of his.
Paul Drake had to have a tough job. No computers, no internet in trying to track down anything or anyone. I would have liked his job the best though.
Della was attractive and classy and got to do things in some episodes.
Me-TV has a promo that sums up a lot of the values of Perry Mason. I don’t see it on their site. The quizzes are new and fun.
Barney Miller is definitely one of the best.
At lunch, I’ve spun an episode to help me tune out and have gone through the whole boxed set.
Dietrich is probably my favorite since he seemed to know everything and despite him being the resident liberal at times.
They were all good on there and that includes Chano and Wentworth from the early episodes.
The first years of L&O were the best.
I have most of the DVDs.
There is a Perry Mason TV show website that breaks down the episodes and points out goofs and problems. It’s fun to read up on an episode as it plays back.

Remington Steele, at least somewhat? Since the name Zimbalist popped up.
Thanks. I’m watching another episode now with Geraldo Rivera as a sleazebag journalist and talk show host that just got murdered.
I loved SWAT as a kid and still spin the DVDs sometimes.
I’d throw in Cannon, Barnaby Jones, and the Fugitive.
I’m not sure about the Invaders. The Streets Of San Francisco seemed to flip flop. Still like them both better than what’s on now.
Big Valley was good.
As a kid, I hated it. Thanks to ME-TV and some maturity I appreciate it and like it a lot.
Must be one of those later Return Of ones.
Another Raymond Burr I finally get and like a lot is Ironside.
As flaky as it was, I like Mod Squad even though a lot of stuff they did was at least questionable.
Tim Allen.
Also had Home Improvement back in the 90’s, the Santa Clause, Toy Story, and some other Disney movies.
I always liked when he was on Leno.
The Decades TV channel just ran a two day marathon of the “Naked City” shows last weekend - some good stuff - “There are eight million stories on the Naked City - this has been one of them”.....
There was Inspector Frank Luger. Always a pleasure when he showed up.
The head of Vice would stop in and creap everyone out.
Fish, of course
Wojo was a work in progress.
Lt Harris was always working on getting his book published.
There was always some star of the day in the holding cell.
Nick and his lousy coffee.
And Barney, rock steady in a crazy mixed up world.

Just watched that one. WE get Me-TV here also, and, I record PM every chance I get.
It’s Just a good show!
The DVD’s are dirt cheap on Amazon these days.
Ironside is pricey though.
