What Was the Most CONSERVATIVE TV Show (non-political)?

The other day I was watching a rerun of a popular TV show from the past. Suddenly it occurred to me that this was the most CONSERVATIVE TV show ever despite the fact that it wasn't specifically a political show.

Okay, I'll give you the name: DRAGNET. I was watching the color version that came back to the airwaves in 1967. Detective Joe Friday didn't fool around. He was all business with NO apologies in enforcing the law. Also notable was how he sneered at hippies, drug addicts, or (in the case of the episode I was watching) idiotic teenyboppers who shoplifted strictly to be members of a dopey club.

But he carried it to such a length, that it started coming across as almost comically stylized.

As this classic from "The Tonight Show" lampooned....

All I remember is that Andy left the show, and Ken Berry took it over. Wasn’t nearly as good but I think Berry had good ratings for a couple of seasons.

True. I wish she had grown old gracefully and naturally. She was so stunning. I always liked her fancy dresses. Being a country girl, I identified with Mary Ann who was so friendly and normal.

At that time, the American people had something like 90 percent faith in “their government”.

I’ve been to Pilot Mountain - it’s a State Park. Interesting geological feature.

‘’The Real McCoys’’ was super-conservative like Walter Brennan. But Kathy Nolan was liberal and may still be.

The show is a bit of mix but it does get on point and is current comedy, Last Man Standing, as per usual they attempt to make him look a fool, but I think he only lets them go so far and usually gets the last word.

At the moment I can't remember his name but he's always been a funny guy and he did spend some time in prison, he was probably a liberal back then.

I’d guess she still relies on income from appearances as Ginger. Cosmetic surgery works out better for some than others, skill level of the cosmetic surgeon aside. If she’d cover her neck she wouldn’t look so startling, but then she’d not be in character.

I think you're right. And, I think that there was also another factor involved. People who have spent much time with LEO's learn that they do have a special, somewhat unique view of the world - there is an us vs. them attitude at work. They do tend to see themselves as different from other people.

I suspect that Webb received a lot of input from real cops at the LAPD and I think his show reflected those influences. From that perspective, the world consists of scum (criminals), airheads (civilians), a few pretty girls and the cops who try to hold everything together. ;-)

With George Reeves? I still can’t go there. That introduced me to “suicide” at an impressionable age. I couldn’t watch it without thinking about the fact the actor killed himself.

I read the family kept his body frozen for years trying to prove it was not suicide.

ANYONE remember the JOE PINE SHOW? Lots of odd ball characters on his talk show.

Not by any means a “conservative” show, but one I started watching in syndication – “Parks & Recreation” and have found to be rather funny at times, but mostly for the character of Ron Swanson. One might think he, as an anti-tax, anti-big government conservative/libertarian, he’d be portrayed as an idiot and a complete buffoon, but he actually (and perhaps and probably not on purpose) he comes off as one of the more rational and intelligent characters on TV in recent years.
