The beloved children’s show characters will return in special called “H.R. Pufnstuf Comes to Mutt & Stuff!”
Nickelodeon is bringing “H.R. Pufnstuf” back for a new televised adventure for the first time in 45 years. The network announced on Tuesday that it has greenlit “H.R. Pufnstuf Comes to Mutt & Stuff!” The special will be part of the network’s order for 20 additional episodes of live-action preschool series “Mutt & Stuff” from Sid and Marty Krofft, the creators of “Pufnstuf.”
The beloved character that debuted on NBC in 1969 will return to TV in early 2016, along with friends Cling and Clang, Freddy the Flute and the Rescue Racer. Production on the special is beginning this fall.

Witchypoo and Judy The Frog, too? It made next to no sense but it was fascinating to watch. I’d be honestly surprised if hallucinogens didn’t play some role, it was that strange.
So they are bringing it back for today’s audience? Which character is the gay one?
I watch the show for medicinal purposes.
He’ll be running a pot dispensary and growhouse this time around.

That witch was downright freaky. Used to give me nightmares as a kid. Talking flute was weird too
I remember an episode of The Monkeys where an alien spaceship arrived. It turned out that the aliens were plants or something and a flower bloomed out of the ship and was blowing smoke all over the place making people act oddly.

I remember trying to watch this, but it was too weird for me. Catchy theme, though.
Pufnstuf totally does not sound like anything drug-related. Not in the slightest.
I don’t think I ever actually watched it but that song still is in my mind.
“H.R. Puffnstuff, Whose your friend when things get rough?” Or is it tough? can’t recall for sure.

ROFL! We’ve recently thought about this show. For me, I never forget songs from the shows back then, etc.
If they are doing “new” versions, though, you can guarantee they will have at least one of the following:
a) potty humor/related (including using foul phrases in “masked” form)
b) environmental indoctrination
c) “Spanish” indoctrination
