At the beginning of the new "X-Files" miniseries, two old characters can be seen exchanging some fresh banter.
"It's always good to see you," Gillian Andersons Dana Scully says to her former partner.
"It's always good to find a reason," replies Fox Mulder, the truth-seeker played by David Duchovny.
That spirit of reunion might also be applied to the larger "The X-Files." The landmark series returns to Fox for six episodes beginning Jan. 24, nearly 14 years after the show was last on TV.

the Lone Gunmen will be back, Carter confirmed, sending the crowd into ecstasy
Yes!
My complaint tonight is about Dr Who.
Lose the damn shades and bring back the screwdriver.
Cf. Firesign Theatre’s EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG
“Dog’s came from the stars. The Aztecs invented the vacation. The brain is not the boss!”
“All I know is everything you know IS WRONG!”
... very liberating.
I’ll be watching. Seldom missed an episode. Saw the movies (so so) but the X Files episodes were a weekly event...even when moved to Friday nights. It was a shame the plot ended the episodes with Scully’s fantasy story line...and when she and Mulder finally ‘connected’. We knew where that was going eventually but once it did...just as in Cybil Sheppard/Willis episodes - “Moonlighting” it took the gloss off the series. Date circled on that calendar. Thanks for the reminder
Well, if the “X files” says it then it must be true huh?
>snicker<
Good. The explanation of their resurrection should be fun.
I did not watch the series when it was originally on TV.
When I heard about the reboot, I started watching it via Netflix. I am at about Episode 7 in Season 2. It has held up well and the Netflix version has been remastered in widescreen format.
Gillian is also in the multi-episode Netflix series, The Fall. It is pretty good, and has been renewed for a season 3 season coming sometime next year.
One of my top 10 fave episodes is “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space”.
Another is “Drive” with Bryan Cranston, long before Breaking Bad.
Love this series a lot.
I thought William Davis , “The Smoking Man” had passed away,...but I guess not.
He’s getting up there. He’ll be 78 in January.
Post-Modern Prometheus season 5, episode 5 is all time classic xfiles
"Jose Chungs From Outer Space," "Humbug," and "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" were all written by Darin Morgan, who was introduced to the X-Files audience as an actor, when he played the humanoid tapeworm "Flukeman" in the episode "The Host."
Though I am not much of a TV viewer, and I missed the entire original run of the show, I managed to see reruns of most of the Duchovny-era X-Files episodes. I think Darin Morgan's screenwriting was perfect for the show.
Was Mulder’s poster of the “The Truth is Out There” prescient about Hillary Clinton’s email files? I hope so.
“Mulder’s” classmates included JFK Jr.

The Smoking Man got blown up in the original run, but you can always bring them back.
