Lenny is not a real person. He's an autopilot computer program. Lenny is designed to give scam telemarketers vague - but plausible - responses to their questions.

Telemarketers don't annoy Lenny. To the contrary, Lenny annoys telemarketers.

The best part is at the 6:11 mark. Lenny is attacked by a flock of ducks as he talks to the scammer. The scammer doesn't seem to find that odd.

When business is slow and I want to have some fun, I antagonize these phone solicitors for as long as they want to stay on the phone.

I don't think so. If there were one or two of them, maybe. But there are so many - and they are so varied (US and Canada) - that I think this is legit.

And one of them involves an electric company that operates in my neck of the woods. The details are all correct.

I absolutely HATE these types of calls at dinner time, which seems to be their favorite time to call. I will always answer and let them say something. As soon as I recognize it as a PITA call, I say: “Hold on just a second, my wife needs me to get the door for her.” whereupon I set the phone down and go back to dinner. I have no idea how long they wait.

I need to tape my 16 year old daughter when she gets these guys. She puts on this very convincing Indian accent (cobra in a basket Indian, not bow and arrow Indian)nd just has a ball. It always has me rolling on the floor.

I set the receiver next to my computer speaker and play the mp3 file of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman’s (R. Lee Emery’s) “welcome speech” from “Platoon”. (I don’t know how long they listen ... I just hang up the phone when the speech ends.)

We finally got rid of our land-line, our friends called our cell numbers, only solicitors called the land line.

That was hilarious, precisely what I needed. The classless heavy-breathing and patronizing bitterness just under the surface of the caller was particularly gratifying. And yes, the ducks that Lenny had to care for had me rolling in the floor. I kept expecting him to start going after them with a hammer.
