I was shocked, I live in a area where we cannot plant outdoors many things. We get snow 6 months out of the year. So last year I planted a chili pepper plan in my house. I noticed 3 day ago I have a chili pepper!!!!

I also have a oregano plant which is growing well. If I want to use some of it what do I do? Just take a leaf off and use it for cooking?

Oregano:

Best used in a marinara sauce; rough chop and add to either bolgnese or pizza sauce (if you are making pizza!).

Other uses would be to START with sauteed onions in olive oil, add oregano and thyme, equally. Add to oil/garlic sauce or “bring-in” chicken breast. Finish with fresh tomato diced and splash onto fetiuccine.

Tonight, I’ll be pan-searing filet-mignon with basil and oregano. Oven roasting and making a pan-gravy to spoon over egg-noodles. Broccoli.

Congratulations! The plant will do best if you cut off stems, leaving an inch or two. It will grow back from the base.

Oregano is unusual in that the fresh leaves are as flavorful as the dried, so use sparingly!

Try sweet basil. If you grow only one herb, basil is a great choice. It is a semi hardy annual.
