EMP Nightmare: How Iran or North Korea Could Destroy America with a Single Bomb
PJTV ^ | 2011 | PJTV

From 2011. A video about EMP weapons and Iran's intent. I thought it was interesting that the alarm has been sounding with those paying attention and look where we are today...

Supposedly our nuclear command structure is hardedned against EMP

It is. I worked in that structure in the 80's while in the Air Force. Even back then everything had emp circuits...basically circuitry that acted as a fuse. In the event of an emp it would be up and working in a matter of minutes. And that was over 30 years ago...not to mention shielding.

Pure Bullcrap. I guess this is why we and the USSR built 15 to 20 thousand bombs during the cold war. Turns out all along we both only needed one.

Silliness.

The Nork and Iranian bombs are designed to do exactly ONE thing. Make them invasion proof. They saw Desert Storm, and they saw us remove Saddam after 911. They saw what we did in Libya. They know we wont start and invasion or attack against any nuclear nation.

No US formations would have penetrated into Iraq if there was a risk that a nuke would detonate in the path of an entire force as it moved in. For that matter, even the most casual observer of war cant fail to notice that if you simply possess a bomb, you are not attacked, air raided, or destabilized etc.

That’s all this is.

Nothing personal but all the Y2K hysteria was led by IT experts.

I don’t know about one bomb. Maybe three, tuned for gamma-ray yield, launched and detonated at the appropriate altitude above LA, Kansas City, and NYC...

yeah, and I bet I'm the one of the only freepers with a q-clearance while with doe/nnsa/ost. Still not afraid of nukes. Never will be. Been in a Russian ss-18 silo with a 25 MT warhead?

If they are like my Y2K sister, they are running from the roof rats that got twice as big snacking on all the stuff up in the attic.

As to EMP, after reading that very interesting book, One Second After, the story was as overplayed as was Y2K.

If the accidental EMP over the Pacific was true, a THOUSAND square miles the blast covered is really only 30 miles by 30 miles. Maybe if somehow the Norks and Magic Carpet cameljocks could pop one over the USA, its damn unlikely they could get enough through to WIPE US OUT.

Both books are based on a real town and college. Look up the sat maps and it really helps get a lay of the land.

EMP might take out a whole city. No way a single one could take out the whole country.

The military assets we would need to wipe out NK or Iran are EMP hardened.

Yes, I looked at that before I commented. It does not say that 1 nuke at high altitude over US would destroy all our electrical power grid.

A lot has changed since the 1960’s. No modern testing in the atmosphere. Am I saying there would be no damage? Nope. Would a single EMP nuke device reduce the US to cave men status? Nope

THE BIGGEST, got it?

* * *

I totally get it and you’re absolutely right. Since you’re in the field, let me ask you for your opinion on something. Forstchen (who wrote “One Second After”) was on the radio last night, and he said that although an EMP from a single aerial nuke would take out the power grid of a large portion of the U.S., it would actually take two or three aerial nukes (and their resultant EMPs) to completely blanket the U.S. and wipe out our grid completely. Is that your understanding as well? I’d like to hear details if you have any.

If they do it, they had better do it while Princess Obongo is still in office.

So what you are saying it will probably most likely happen for sure before Obunghole is out of office?

I concur. The muzzie would dance up and down on the White House lawn. He probably already has the lights set up to paint the White House in the Iranian flag.

yes, if you think about the blast radius of the bomb itself, the EMP radius is similar and the strength of it dissipates by the square of the distance too. 250 miles away you would pick up the EMP on all your radios and airwaves, but it would not fry electronics they way it will close by.

So it would take several to take down the entire USA- You have to consider that the grid taken out in one area puts a strain on other areas, even if the EMP itself does not.

And our grid is VERY BAD.

So it would take several and they would have to be strategically placed, but its not like it would require pinpoint accuracy- just getting in the general area of a major grid is good enough.

3 - one each in NYC, Washington DC and LA would be enough, I think. 6 if you include Seattle and Dallas, and Boulder, and I think it is not recoverable without decades of living like it is 1900 again.

Y2K ‘hysteria’ saved the USA from a lot of grief.

I made a lot of money fixing old code that would have failed on 1/1/2000.

It was real, and if not fixed would have been a disaster, if not for the ‘hysteria’ and the urgency to fix it that it created.
