In the book, Aborting Aristotle: Examining Fatal Fallacies in the Abortion, pro-life author Dave Sterrett said he met a Presbyterian minister who believed a baby isnt truly a person until he or she has been loved.
He explained, A Presbyterian minister in my city once said that he would support his teenage daughter to get an abortion. When another pastor asked him, When do you believe a human person begins to exist? The Presbyterian minister replied, I think someone becomes a person when they are loved.
This is a fascinating view on personhood, especially coming from a Christian religious leader who is supposed to give the most weight to what God says about the matter. However, the ministers comments are not all that surprising considering the official stance of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) on abortion, which is that the considered decision of a woman to terminate a pregnancy [by abortion] can be a morally acceptable, though certainly not the only or required, decision.
As LifeNews previously reported, Presbyterian ministers have made some outlandish comments about abortion and the abortion industry in the last decade. For example, Presbyterian Church (USA) minister, Andrew Kukla, explained on his blog that he loves everything about Planned Parenthood, the abortion company that was caught trafficking and profiting off of aborted babies body parts in July. He said, I love Planned Parenthood. I love the people that are Planned Parenthood. I love their ministry. I love that they live resurrection in a way I only talk about it.

God loves all, including unborn babies.
Even sinners.
Jeremiah 1:5....
No it's not. It is demented.
I question whether the minister understands the teachings of Jesus, or he just promoting his own feel good religion.
Sort of like in quantum mechanics where you don’t know if the cat in the box is dead or alive until you open it.
So if a baby isn’t loved, it is not a person? This man is spewing gas.
Maybe he should realize that Jesus loves the little children? They are always loved.
1. Sperm meets egg and they join and implant.
2. That creates a new being, not teh mother and not the father, but with the same genetic structure as you and me. IOW, the genetic structure of homo sapiens.
3. Thus, the new entity is a member of our species -- therefore, a human being, a person.
every baby is loved by God!
but this socalled minister obviously knows nothing about God
pray for his parishioners!!!!!!!!
The Wrath they are billing themselves for is simply unspeakable.
The view is pretty consistent with that of all other pro-choicers.
The Presbyterian Church has *outgrown* God.
There is a simple accurate answer which, of course, is at conception.
lots of children are born without being loved by their parents. So they’re not a person?
Even by this definition life begins at conception, because all are loved by God even before conception. What an idiot this so called pastor is. A shame to his profession and church.
Loved by who; the idiot minister or GOD?
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;" Jeremiah 1:5
"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3
Not just this minister, but the whole denomination from what I read in the article.
That’s why I don’t use my Christianity in an argument with a pro-death person. It’s too easy for them to point to people like this who have been false prophets.
I hit them with the fact of it being the ultimate form of irresponsibility. Really, how irresponsible can one person be? No protection during sex, and then kill the baby so you aren’t inconvenienced.
It’s not the baby’s fault she and the father have the self control of rutting animals, and couldn’t take the time for meaningful contraception.
That usually gets them stuttering, and stammering.
