Didn't we used call it the Dark side of the moon? Are we really that politically correct now?

Given the huge cost of launching vehicles into space, and probably bringing stuff back from the moon, I’m skeptical that this will be a cost-effective project. However, figuring out how to extract and exploit off planet resources would be a huge step towards that staple of 1950’s science fiction - terraforming, i.e. creating earth-like environments on other planets. Still, given our amoeba-like understanding of how climate works, let alone changing it, terraforming will probably remain a pipe dream for the indefinite future.

Every science fiction novelist has written stories about mining Helium 3 from the moon for decades.

I know that Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, is going to team up with FIT as soon as they can to map out plans to colonize Mars.

I’d be interested to hear his reaction to this, and if he thinks we should devote some resources to exploit this potential possibility.

But chances are he already knows the potential on the far side.

Also like to know what Senator Cruz thinks about NASA falling so far behind. I think he heads up a space subcommittee.

Political correctness is not only killing us, it’s embarrassing the hell out of us.

“geo-synchronous lunar orbit”? Perhaps “lunar-synchronous” would be better. If the moon makes a complete rotation in about 28 days, how “high” above the moon would that satellite have to be?

On another note, I have always thought that the moon would make a great place to base an observatory. The near side to examine the earth, and the far side to investigate the rest of the universe.

Don't Touch the Moon

Don't touch the moon. I need it for loving.
Don't touch the stars. I need them, too.
All you frantic scientists, find something else to do.

There are bright spots of extreme long term planning intelligence with the Chinese.

Their Centrally planned country fails in the short to mid term but in the extreme long term it can dominate.

I think the short and mid term will eventually crush their country. But it seems our private industry in our country is the only thing that can maintain their focus, our government is at war with itself and everyone else.

"rare element Helium -3"

What ever happened to editors? Or fact checking? H-3 is not Helium - 3. H3 is three hydrogen atoms; tritium. If fusion is ever possible tritium would be the "fuel" of choice since it is bigger and heaver then H or H2.
