Today IS MY ANNIVERSARY!!
And I am excited!!!
I'll bet every one who reads this is wondering "Of what? His marriage? (No, sadly my wife passed years ago). His FReeperdom-ness? (Nope. I think that one is in October). His job? (well, almost. Sept 27 will be 18 years).
Nope. It's none of that. But it is important.
I QUIT SMOKING A YEAR AGO!!!
Well, I use E-cigs now, but that's another story.
Hurray! In celebration of me quitting, I am making a $50 donation to FReerepublic, and encourage everyone else so inclined to do the same!
If you have a similar story, please let us know!
Congratulations. I quit 37/8/24/22:02 ago. Not like I’m keeping track or anything.
Good job!
Congratulations! Unless you’ve had the habit you don’t know just how hard it can be to quit.
Congratulations, but my most important celebratory day is coming up on September 16th.
My FRee Republic birthday!!
Lol! Good for you!
Good for both of us!
And let me say now, I TOTALLY understand the urge to smoke, and do not blame anyone else who smokes.
It is almost impossible to quit, heroin junkies have been able to quit H but were helpless against the simple smoke!
Thank Heaven I never started.
I quit smoking 3 years ago. E-cigs did it for me.
Hey, I puffed and puffed and puffed on those damn things for forty years!
Now I have a pack on my coffee table, an opened pack, with two cigarettes in it... crumbly and old, hell, by now they are probably moldy!
But I don’t care!
Try a menthol.
Hey Congratulations! I haven’t smoked in 58 years! :D
Well, I don’t celebrate it...but I did quit buying cigarettes after the taxes made them distasteful, so.....
I now make my own...
Nightly news reported a while back that of those smokers who try to quit with E-cigs, only 15-20% succeed. So we are both way ahead of the curve!
Congratulations!
Congrats! Just stick with it.
My last puff was in January, 2003.
It is surprising how much more $$$ I have to spend on things like widescreen TV and computer upgrades.
I doubt I ever take another puff. I say one cig leads to two leads to a pack leads to a carton leads to the habit. So, I refrain from taking that puff. It has worked for 12 years.
To be honest I rolled my own (mostly)for about three years before I quit.
And I still have about 7 or 8 lbs of tobacco and thousands of rolling papers stashed in my supplies.
Some of that tobacco, especially the Turkish kinds, are really, truly excellent. Very fulfilling and sensual...
But as of right now, I cannot fall back on it.
And hope I don’t!
Good job. Nine years for me. Stay strong.
"I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Phil. 4:13
I have quit numerous times...for as long as a year, but I have smoked since I was 12-13 years old..and I like it...lol
I can make 4 cartons of smokes with a good blend of tobacco for a bit over 30 dollars these days...
It's takes a few minutes of my time, but it's financially the smarter thing to do..
Congratulations to you, too!
I’m still on 24 mg and need to gradually go down in strength.
Keep up your good efforts. :)
