Deaths from the MERS coronavirus have surged in Saudi Arabia ahead of the hajj pilgrimage, with 19 fatalities recorded in a week, according to health ministry statistics.
A total of 502 people died in the kingdom since the virus first appeared in 2012, according to updated figures posted on the ministrys website, including 19, all Saudis, since last Thursday.

Another reason to avoid sex with camels.
Good! The only problem is that the number is far too low. Multiply by factors to yield several billion dead muzzies and the world will be a better place. Still it's a good start and hopefully the number of dead mooselimbs will skyrocket.
I had the step stool concession for a while good bucks
I was in the UAE (which borders Saudi) last year and came in near proximity to a couple of camels during a “dune bashing” outing.Strange, ugly creatures to be sure...not nearly attractive enough to get close enough to catch anything from them. ;-)
I went to San Francisco State University.
I saw that movie.
Is dune bashing some kind of hate crime?
I sure hope so!
Nope...picture a scene from Lawrence of Arabia...huge sand dunes for miles and miles and miles. There are parts of the UAE a couple of hours from Dubai just like that.Dune bashing involves driving a big 4X4 (ours was a Toyota Land Cruiser) to such an area and then driving really fast through the sand to the top of a dune and then down again.Kinda scary but really fun.Certainly something that *this* boy from the suburbs of Boston had never experienced.
Then,as the sun sets you go to a settlement in the middle of nowhere and have a "traditional" Arab meal...with a dancer, music, etc, etc.
Although I've never checked I'd wager that if you searched "dune bashing" on youtube you'd find some videos.
Good reason not to drink camel urine.
It’s a start
Just in time for the pilgrimage to Mecca.
