Android users will now be able to use Microsofts digital assistant on their devices.
After announcing in May, software giant Microsoft has officially rolled out the beta version of its voice-based assistant Cortana to Googles popular platform.
The Cortana app on Android will basically extend the digital assistants functionality across any device you carry and will do most of the things it does on your PC or Windows Phone.
It will now allow Android users to easily search the web on-the-go, track flight details, set reminders, and also complete tasks across all the devices.
You can now change the home button settings and choose to launch Cortana instead of the default Google Now.
The Cortana app on Android includes similar features as present in the Windows 10 and Windows Phone version, but it doesnt include Hey Cortana support, due to hardware limitations that prevent the digital assistant from always listening for the command.

She's a cutie, no doubt.
For your Android list.
One of the worst things that ever happened was my Halo 1 PC-Edition DVD breaking.
:(
Wasn’t this the killer app that was supposed to pull people away from Android?
“Microsoft’s Cortana appears in a major competitor’s phone. Who would have guessed, only a few years ago, that such a thing would ever come to pass? “
<Microsoft Office app has been available for two years.

The chief’s gone rampant ahhhhh ahhhhh......
I miss playing halo 1. I played for the story and it took me forever to get through as i am horrible at 1st person shooters. I am far better at rps.
I stopped after the third one. I heard at the beginning of the 4th one Master Chief holds a nuke in his hands while it detonates in space.....then falls to Earth surviving not just a point blank ground zero thermo-nuclear blast, but also re-entry and a terminal velocity fall into the ground.
You must have played alot of Final Fantasy huh Grace?

I saw that vid years ago, about 2006, one of the first Videos I saw on Youtube.
I noticed they shoehorned in some of the Lines by The Covenant to The Prophet of Truth's Dialog in Halo 3.
True, and of course one could also point out that MS Office and even IE were available for the Apple Mac more than a decade ago.
Nevertheless, the philosophy at Microsoft has clearly changed in a huge way since the replacement of CEO Steve Ballmer with a person who understands competitive markets and how to address them effectively. Ballmer's myopia only allowed him to operate in a monoculture; he was hopelessly lost in a competitive situation and nearly destroyed the company he claimed to "love".
I am very happy to see Microsoft acting responsibly toward the people who support and depend on them.
I watched it as an .mpg file when it first came out, Youtube didn’t exist.
I recall being extremely upset it was Mac-only.
Watching that Vid again brings SO much back.
