An evening ritual for one Fort Lauderdale resident took a remarkable turn Friday.
Bill Tudhunter, 57, was sitting on the back patio of his Fort Lauderdale home drinking a beer and enjoying the view of the Intracoastal Waterway, as he does every evening after work, when he noticed something odd in the water.
A group of nine manatees had come ashore behind the home in the 2100 block of Southeast 21st Street. In what could only be described as a dogpile, they rocked with the wake, apparently mating as they floated in a few feet of water.
A cluster of manatees appeared to be mating on the Fort Lauderdale shoreline Friday evening. Emily Miller, Sun Sentinel Unsure of what to do, Tudhunter alerted his wife, Yasmine, who called 911 as well as wildlife authorities.
Fort Lauderdale police monitored the manatees from the shore as well as from a police boat.

I’ve lived in Florida for years, and have never gotten to see a manatee.....I’m jealous.
If you live in Dade Co. try Turkey Point power plant cooling canal or Black Creek further south. Used to see them both places.
Thanks.
Is that the origin of the word clusterf—k?
No arrests?
Oh the huge mantatee!!
“Manatee Suzie and Manatee Sam
Do the jitterbug down in Manatee land
As they wriggle
Sue starts to giggle......
Looks like Manatee love....”
Perverts, all of 'em.
First time I heard the term canoodle was the Grease Man when he was the morning DJ at a Jacksonville AM radio station. He later revised that to Hobidigaga.
I think people have gotten the wrong Idea of what it means to “canoodle”
It was originally meant to describe having a whimsical conversation with others.
unsure of what to do? Why do anything?

Maybe he was unsure whether Florida has a law against manatees’ having sex in public.
Very low point in American culture: when Captain & Tennille
played ‘Muskrat Love’ for Queen Elizabeth at a White House Dinner (1976)

Certainly, it wasn’t Sgt. Fury canoodling I hope...
That’s embarrassing even 40 years later.
That performance was surpassed when Obama gave the Queen copies of his speeches.
