DANVILLE, Pa – A couple who took their nearly 5-foot boa constrictor for a swim in a Pennsylvania river say the pet slipped away and they're concerned about its welfare.

The Bloomsburg Press Enterprise reported Thursday that Kolby and Zachary Latranyi had been swimming with the snake named Leyla last weekend in the Susquehanna River. The Latranyis say the red-tailed boa was shedding, so the swim was designed to help it remove material from its scales.

hmmm....reading the article after posting this on another thread makes me wonder if the elephant hasn't taken the blue ribbon to be a snake.

I know, but up in PA the problem is self-correcting. A Boa is a tropical snake and will not survive the winters there unless, possibly, they could ‘den’ up with other Boas.

Chances of that are pretty slim.

Swimming should probably be in air quotes considering the two idiots are homos.

I can pretty much guarantee they were not sticking a Boa up their butts without dire consequences.

Boas are great critters but if you push them to the point of defensiveness, you will pay.

They are not blindly obedient animals...or even obedient at all.

:)

Odds are also high that these two are below the 0.00005 watt brain threshold.

I will have a concern for the snake when the snake exhibits concern for me. There are too many humans to be concerned about.

Boids cannot “den up” like colubrids do.
They are not able to “hibernate”.
They just freeze to death.
They have *very* rigid, high temp needs.

It would be great if they could.

I could save lots on my light bill if I just threw ‘em all together in one house.

:D

"If they are homos"

If?

"Since Sunday, Zachary and his husband Kolby Latranyi have back to a section of River Road near Danville, desperately looking for their beloved pet Leyla."

I guess that if gays can't complain that they can't get married (or get wedding cakes) any more, we can expect even more attention-seeking behavior.

The story is pretty funny on the face of it. I'm not shedding any tears. Think of all the white mice whose lives have been spared.

Looks like the boa has "come out" and its courage is the cover story of the latest issue of Playsnake:
