Yes the share holders, who come from allover the world and do not give a damn about the USA. GloBULLism sucks. Yes, Ford has a duty to its stockholders and the USA has a right to defend herself from gloBULLism thru tariffs and trade barriers.
Within the US, no. In international trade, yes it makes sense. There is no free market, and there is no free trade on an international basis. And the sooner politicians and some US citizens stop pretending that there is, the better off the US will be economically and otherwise.

Lie. I've told you and showed you that the industry standard is 30 man-hours per car. At most moving a factory to Mexico shaves off only a few percent off the production cost WHICH WILL NEVER BE PASSED ON TO THE CONSUMER anyway. So quit lying.
The correct way to solve that problem is to go after NAFTA, not the decisions of individual companies that are predicated on the rules set by law and treaty.
The government is the driver of the problem, and that’s where the problem gets solved, if one is actually intent on solving it.
They move because in cheap labor nations they can cut their labor expense to as low as 10% of what it is in the US and also operate with much less regulation.
Maybe if you and everyone else would adjust their compensation to Third World levels, the US could be more competitive in the global economy. All Americans are overcompensated compared to global norms.
That's true, but you can be sure that the big corporate players had their input into the terms of NAFTA and all trade agreements. Many got just what they wanted. To begin to re-industrialize the US would require change in government policy and some corporate priorities.
US corporations have no constitution right to produce in foreign nations and export to the US tariff free. Our founders set up a government to be financed by tariffs.

If he really wants businesses and manufacturers to stay in the US, he should work towards dismantling the plethora of stifling regulations that plague our economy. Wage differences are but a small piece of the puzzle, all things considered.
Take down OSHA, EPA, income tax, and a ton of other agencies that do nothing to make the US more competitive on the world market.
Government is the problem, not the solution!
Not only that. They tend to consider themselves as the real conservatives and taken over just about everything that's official "tea party". They really believe "tea party" is about low taxes, including no tariffs, and nothing else.

They move because unions (Trump loves unions) and the cost of government (special deals, favors, bailouts - Trump loves thoe too) and the idiocy of giving hostile countries like China trade preferences.
By treaty we can’t tariff goods coming in from Mexico.
Shaming the company won’t change that. Ending the treaty will. Having politicians have point-level control over the decisions of individual companies is the worst scenario of all - we get neither tariff income and benefits, nor do we get a free, unpoliticized market.
Trump knows how it works, he’s been neck deep in it for a long time.
I’m curious about why he isn’t naming GM. They’ve got factories in Mexico too.
That may be bad for some American workers, but if it helps keep prices lower, then it is good for American consumers.Lower prices helps the middle class and the poor, and helps increase the standard of living for the average wage earner.
