Republican front-runner Donald Trump came to the home state of the auto industry and attacked Ford Motor Co. for building factories in Mexico. And the Michigan faithful in attendance sided with the bombastic mogul.
"Ford is building a $2.5 billion plant in Mexico," he roared to a packed auditorium in Birch Run, Michigan, and 2,000 voices responded with lusty boos. "I

When are people going to realize Trump deals? He is starting with the demand to keep the jobs here that’s where the negotiation starts. He mentions convincing the Ford CEO. Obviously incentives and dealmaking is implied.
Good God people Trump is a businessman. He understands the process and what has to be done to make it beneficial for both sides. He’s not going to just impose a bunch of laws like Obama.
Right now he is using his bully pulpit to set the agenda and get support.
Trump is smart. It’s time people smarten up too and realize we are not dealing with the usual politican who just spouts nonsense.
The traditional argument against that was that the free market would win out. I’m not sure that is the case vs. a massive quasi-slave-labor society like China, any more than it was true in the American South. There, it took government action and eventually a war to undo the gubment support of the slave system. So, in this case, I wouldn’t be opposed to tariffs on Chinese originated goods.
BTTT
OH has been slammed hard by GMs pull out
And remains ignorant of why new car plants are built in right to work states.
Trump says hew would tell Ford that any vehicles coming in from Mexico would have a 35% tariff.

Only saw the news conference BEFORE and blurbs of phrases meant to gin up the Lincoln Day Dinner (a Gopee fund raiser) base. Gee bet they could have had any candidate to speak
Yup, what you said.
Can’t prevent them from moving. Sure as hell can Tariff their products coming back in.
CC, again a push to get the Reagan Democrats aka the Macomb County Dem's that voted for Reagan. No one see's it I do. FWIW, my gnomes that are close to the shop floor told me in 2009-2010, they ( the union rank and file ) had lost all respect for Obama. The question begs, did they stay home or vote for him again in 12' because they hated Romney's blue blood image.
An even bigger question is can Trump snag them as they know in their gut the country is more fubar'd than the Carter mess in 79' when the pulled the lever for Reagan....
“Now why, oh why would DT do such a crazy thing?”
Because Donald is serious about bringing jobs back to the USA and keeping them here in the first place,
Ford moving production of cars for the US to avoid hiring US workers is just wrong.
Eliminating freedom-denying concepts like unions and minimum wage is not free market?
People to Trump “talk about the issues!”
-Trump talks about issues-
People to Trump “he doesn’t mean it, how is he gonna do that, he’s lying etc etc”
Because fascism is so appealing.
Does anyone have a copy of the Constitution handy? Because I'm reading through mine, and I just can't seem to find the part that authorizes the President to approve or disapprove of a private company's plans to build a plant. I must be missing a page or two.
Also, someone should ask Trump about President Obama's approval (or the approval of previous Presidents) of Trump's plans to build hotels, golf courses, etc., overseas. Maybe that's what he was talking about when he said he bought favors from politicians? Hmmmm......C'mon, The Donald - let's see the long-form Official Presidential Approval for Overseas Developments (OPAOD)!
Trump cannot impose taxes or tariffs, nor can any other president. That has to be done by Congress...
Donald Trump unlike the rest of the scrum running for the GOP nomination is looking past the primary and calculating for the general election. Sadly you cannot get elected President on Freeper votes alone. :-)
