Republican front-runner Donald Trump came to the home state of the auto industry and attacked Ford Motor Co. for building factories in Mexico. And the Michigan faithful in attendance sided with the bombastic mogul.
"Ford is building a $2.5 billion plant in Mexico," he roared to a packed auditorium in Birch Run, Michigan, and 2,000 voices responded with lusty boos. "I

Seems to me that FR has a mostly white collar population because I’ve never seen so many people completely ignorant of manufacturing.
When Donald Trump speaks of tariffs on imports people don’t seem to grasp the concept that costs on nearly all things will rise massively with government being the primary beneficiary of those costs. After that we will fall into a full on depression.
Happy to be called a nationalist. That was the name of George Washington’s party.
let me put this in plain terms...
ford build a plant in mexico...
the price of management was the same...
the price of labor was the same..
what did it gain??
the regulatory and the criminal running of the plants by the union..
this is what they gained, nothing more..
when this plan ran dry, operations were moved back to the US..
what changed you asked???
the militant unions changed, instead of demanding less, they doubled down and demanded more...
the teamsters and other communist organizations supported them..
now ford has succumbed to the communists...
time to abandon ford and move them to the scrap heap of communismum..
It is also the left that want to ignore the words the President says and spin it to mean something more palatable.
we are arriving to the point where robots build and humans manage. There will be few if any humans on the factory floor.
eventually 3d printing will decentralize manufacturing to the point of the showroom floor.
How will he prevent it?
Will he use his phone and his pen to stop them?
How can he do that?
Not sure why this is surprising for some people. He is not conservative. Never was. Main concern is money and power.
No thanks.
you are indeed correct!!!
just to put things into perspective...
if I can design a machine that will cost less than 250K over 20 years, then I can replace workers on the floor..
it will be bought...
if you are a communist socialist unionist persona reading this take warning..
this has been the threshold for over 25 years.
you guys are screwed..
I don’t know about you, but publicly displaying ignorance regarding the powers of the executive branch of the government is not a good way for a presidential candidate to get my vote.
Of course, it is possible Mr. Trump was announcing his intent to ignore the Constitution when it suits him to do so - but that is an even WORSE way to try to get my vote.
Protectionist tariffs would do the job. No need to threaten Ford. Just slap tariffs on each Ford coming in from Mexico. Screw Nafta. Just ignore it.
Worked really well up to 1970.
Half of all autos in the USA are made by non union employees.
Follow the problem to its' source, Donald.
If at the age of 63, Donald Trump still needed the “school of hard knocks” to teach him that socialism is a bad idea, then he is most definitely not qualified to be president of the United States.
Donald is for getting rid of EPA regulations and lowering corporate taxes to zero.
There are only 4 Ford plants in Mexico and 3 in Canada vs 27 in the USA.
Yea move it to Detroit so they have more working class people to rob.
