Whole Foods may be toast. Granted, it's toast made from pricey, gluten-free, organic honey oat bread. But toast nonetheless.
Shares of Whole Foods (WFM) plunged more than 10% Thursday after the high-end natural grocery chain reported sales and profits that missed analysts' forecasts. Its outlook did not impress investors either.

If they have lowered their prices, as the article states, then my local WF didn’t get the memo.
As I have developed massive food allergies in my old age, I often frequent the place but can’t stand the hippy/progressive types who shop there.
He called homobamneycare "fascism". Plus he publicly complained that it was forcing him to hire more part timers and cut hours of the full timers.
Whole foods sells a lot of pre-cooked and processed food on their salad, BBQ, Seafood and soup self serve bars, then their are the cooked meats and dinners behind the deli-service counter. That drives up the cost for a lot of customers. You can effectively shop Whole Foods if you avoid the gimmicky stuff and stick to fresh fruits and vegetables and the self dispensary of whole grains and cereals. Sometimes there are great sales on Chicken — which I pick up. The breasts are about 3/4 the size of your hand vs the size and a half found on the hormone fed trisodium phosphate pumped market brands you find in a common grocery store.
Newsflash: almost 100 Million Americans are bot in the workforce. 40 Million are on Food Stamps. $8.00 bags of pasta are not in their immediate future grocery list.
Uh boy. My products were just approved to go into two local Whole Foods, one that will have it’s grand open next month.
Interestingly, a Fresh Thyme will be opening here in about a year.
What's my point? People such as myself no longer have to go out of our way and have to put up with their prices and attitude to get edible foods.
Last two times I bought fresh fish from WF...I returned it b/c it was NOT fresh.
I don’t mind paying *more* for meat and fish...if the quality is there. Never did, never will.
But I’m giving up on their fish dept.
The fruit/vegetables at WF are not cheaper than a supermarket...and the quality is not appreciatively better. If you shop the seasons and pay attention, you’ll do better at a good supermarket to pinch pennies.
Growing your own is the best.
I like their business model very much.
Whole Foods CEO made the serious error of opposing Obamacare, saying literally that the employees were going to suffer. Bambi and the gang have been out for Whole Foods ever since, and it looks like Bambi’s winning.
Pretntious. That’s the WF customer.

More completion to. Trader joes is on the March. Aldi. Other specialty stores. Plus regular grocers are adding more organic and specialty items.
This surprised me though. I’ve seen a lot of new dhole foods opening in different cities.
Wal*Mart.
