I guess I’m not surprised. It drives me crazy when I’m on the highway and glance in the rearview mirror only to see the driver behind me looking at their damn phone!

When I’m driving in heavy traffic and have to stop suddenly, my first reaction (trained, not natural) is to look into the rear view mirror. I will often have to adjust my braking and path, depending on what’s happening behind me. This sometimes means heading for the ditch. I wonder if the Google algorithm includes driving off the road?

This is telling me that the auto cars do very well when it comes to following the rules of the road, but suck at defensive driving.

I’ve gunned it and driven into a ditch in order to avoid being rear-ended. The truck managed to stop before hitting the car in front of me. Nobody hurt. No damage. No accident.
