The Department of Veterans Affairs says it may have to shut down some hospitals next month if Congress does not address a $2.5 billion shortfall for the current budget year.
The VA told Congress Monday that it needs to cover shortfalls caused by an increased demand by veterans for health care, including costly treatments for hepatitis C.

Brinksmanship.
You said it far better than I ever could.
close congress for one week and stop all payments to be made for one week and there is enough money to fund the VA one hundred years
Fire all the admin people and the other hangers-ons in the va and you’d have tons of money. In the meantime, the VA continues to murder Veterans through neglect and no one is held accountable.
true ... just those ‘haters’ hatin’ those keepin’ Citizens Safe. Can’t fund those keepin’ Citizens Safe. How’s them Citizens gonna be made dead if care is given to Veterans? Demoralize the Veterans, Spit on Veterans, Defund Veterans and the Veterans will stop protecting Citizens from politicians ... or that is what politicians believe. How to Kill A Nation is Done By Killing the Veterans.
Not to lay off hundreds of useless administrators.
I know someone who works at the VA. The stories ain’t pretty. Not about patient care, but about the shake up in the management ranks and how’s it’s gonna decimate the ranks of the good hard working people trying to do their jobs.
The media doesn’t want you to know...
OBAMACARE CAUSED THESE INCREASED COSTS.
The Obamacare mandate forced many low-income veterans to sign up.
Looting the military budget for welfare- a Reid-Pelosi tradition.
I bet they haven’t cancelled any bonuses or outside consultants giving sensitivity training.
The VA will announce shortly it is going to discontinue all services so it’s employees can collect their paychecks.
Wouldn’t bother me if they shut them all down and turn Vet care over to private hospital’s, they damn near have anyway. We have a VA here and vet’s are having to travel over 100 miles to it for service’s when they could receive better care locally. Last time I stepped foot into a VA was in 72 when I was discharged from the Army. That would get rid of a bunch of Federal employee’s.
How many VA executives have been fired?
The executives don’t care about the Veterans.
They don’t have to.
No,close the EPA instead.
Make congress use the VA for their medical needs. I bet they would clean it up real quick!
The VA here in San Diego spent money on about a dozen really colorful flags that line the entrance to the hospital.
